Thanks all - I've been busy checking the dimensions of the P45's and S45-2's but think they would all be too big. I've always liked the style of the CX100's so I think that would be my choice.

But if space is limited -perhaps their cousin, P45 on the wall would be nice.

Thanks to all of you, this is very helpful. I was going to ask if they look the same, the different finishes would drive me nuts too.

So by sticking with it as is, the next obvious question to ask is which speakers should I get? If this is going to live as a separate system it is going to go into a study or bedroom, so not much space at all for speakers.

£150 is very cheap! You can sell bits of this for more. Yes, you can simply replace the Beomaster, though as said above, the Beogram will be a problem. A Beomaster 5500 will work but will have problems connecting to the Beovision - I don't think it will work but someone may know more. They do at least use the same remote codes and the 5500 matches the rest of the 5000 system.

Basically yes (except for the Beogram, which would need an external RIAA preamp), but note that they will not look the same even if all are alu coloured. 5000/5500 are brushed aluminum, whereas 6500/7000 are polished. Personally having to watch such a mixup would drive me nuts.

But I agree that at £150 it would be worth getting for a completely separate setup! You'd still need to get some speakers, though...

£150 for a complete BS5000 and everything is working! -I would assume in excellent shape?

That is a steal. I'd buy it and some passives and set it up separate from the TV (you'd have no remote conflict), or perhaps in another room?

Then look for a 6500/7000 if you wanted one!

Being completely honest, I wouldn't do it. I would get a 7000 system which should work with your present system. The 5000 uses a different set of remote codes and will not integrate.

The 5000 system should be cheap though - £350 - 400 or so. The Beogram 5000 rather than the 5005 is probably the one to have as it is better built and although radial, probably sounds better. The CD50 is also a mixed bag. I found my first one noisy mechanically and they are becoming unreliable. The later CD5500 was IMHO much better. The Beomaster is a beauty - shame about the codes - the drop down panel offers good close control unlike the later models. The Beocord 5000, although not autoreverse, is a superb deck - one of B&Os best. Not as easy to use as a 5500 but better sound quality.

Hi,

I have an opportunity to purchase a complete Beosystem 5000 (Beogram 5005, Beomaster 5000, Beocord 5000, Beogram CD 50 and a Master Control Panel 5000) all items are in working order.

These are my questions:

1) What is a fair price to offer for the whole system?

2) What options do I have (if any) for linking it to my current speakers which are connected through a BV7-40 MKII with Beolab 6000’s front and Beolab 4’s rear?
