Hmm... Maybe I should just set up two different systems in the same room and let one run the tv-system and the other one the audio system. Can't have to many b&o-stereos in one room, right?

Partially wrong, fortunately ...

You can have an audio system (with speakers connected)
AND a TV (with / wthout speakers connected)
AND, furthermore a (pair of) Link-speaker(s)
in one room - still beeing able to control the sound of any of these zones independently.

Depending on your components this can be done either by ML or by ML+Datalink.

Post a list of your audio- and video componets and your speakers.

Re: Connecting two pairs of speakers and switching from one to the other

I was just trying to avoid buying yet another box...

Re: Connecting two pairs of speakers and switching from one to the other

I'm a bit intrigued by your wish to avoid the link-kit (by which I understand you mean the Beolink Active). I have something of the same problem, as I have just acquired a pair of Beolab 1 speakers, which I want to use for a special music listening position in a rather smallish room which already has a pair of Beolab 4000 placed in a bookshelf.

The obvious solution for me is to connect the Beolab 1 speakers to a Beolink Active, and activate them with a LINK command.

Setting up a separate video and audio system seems to defeat the purpose of Beolink integration. Why on earth would you want to do that?

Re: Connecting two pairs of speakers and switching from one to the other

You could go the low tech route of simply turning one pair off when not needed. I have installed many systems like this ( mainly in "L" shaped rooms, or "knock through" living / dining rooms)

Easy to do with powerlink supplying all speakers with L&R - just switch of the mains supply for the pair you don't want to hear.

You can "daisy chain" Beolabs - many have two sockets.

You can also get B&O made splitters, or you can just splice the PL cables ( care needed but easy and effective)

The only real drawback compared to a beolink is no different volume control is available for pair A and pair B when they are all on - but maybe not an issue in the room you describe.

Also, if you have a video source ( or some newer audio systyems) , link would offer the option of different content in pair A and B - but in a one room system, this would sound a bit odd!!!

Re: Connecting two pairs of speakers and switching from one to the other

Hmm... It's designed for exactly this purpose.

I was wondering if there is any way of hooking up two pairs of Beolab speakers to a B&O stereo(2500/Ouverture or 9500) and then choosing which pair to use using the remote? I have a large room and would like to use different speakers depending on where I sit in the room.(First pair is for use when watching TV and the other of listening to music)

I guess I could connect one pair over a link-kit but that just seems like a hassle. Is there any other way?
