If you have to use your Beo4/5, then yes, a Lintronic box would certainly help.

As far as the A/V switches, there are a bunch. Just do a search on google shopping. The most popular one seemed to be the RF-Link 4in/1out unit with IR control. I believe the model is AVS-41.

Not a bad idea, especially if you hooked it upto a Lintronic box - that would give you automatic switching and control of the non b&o devices. Do you know who makes the infrared ones?

There are remote controlled ones out there. Not sure if that will help, they require line of sight so will need to be seen by the remote and the user. Maybe use an ir extender lead to allow you to hide the box. Just move the receiver ir led to somewhere on or near the BeoSound, and add a little wire.

True, I doubt there is enough demand outside of these circles and a manual switchbox does the job but looks unsightly and messy. Maybe a BM5500 and Beogram CD would be better than my BS3000 with it's broken CD player and 1 input! It would also mean I wouldn't need a seperate pre-amp for the turntable!

If the demand actually was great (meaning also others than just us B&O nerds needed one), you could already get one made in China for little money. Other folks just buy a new plastic AV receiver if they run out of inputs.

I would design such a switcher if I needed one, but I don't think it would ever be viable as a business, or even to compensate for the lost free time. Producing 20 or so PCBs for a construction kit could work, but then you'd still need to hack up an enclosure and other mechanics yourself.

And since we are with B&O, the moment you had a simple audio switcher, somebody would like it to do something intelligent with the Datalink from a single Beomaster input to the connected multiple peripherals. So it won't end up being so simple after all.

Personally I would need a switching matrix for passive speakers...

Hi, thanks for the reply, yes, I looked at the Video ones and the problem is that they don't switch automatically for audio as they need the 5v (I think) signal on the scart lead in order to switch over. What's needed is something that senses an audio signal and then switches to it - bit like the active speakers switch on when they get an audio signal through the jack plug.

One huge detail about these units is they require a video signal to operate, at all. For a BeoSound, probably not my first choice.

Ok looks like the rs number is 15-1985.

When it comes to switching I know a lot of people talk about Geffen. Worth checking.

Yes, I have one. I use it for a v. Made by radioshack and has 5 in, 2 out. I'm pretty sure they don't sell it anymore unfortunately.

Does anyone know if an automatic input selector (for the aux socket on beosounds) is yet on the market by anyone?

Must be a great demand for something that could be hidden away and allows you to connect ipod, turntable etc. to a Beosound with only 1 aux socket. I beleive this has been discussed before and someone was going to look into producing one if there was enough interest.
