Hi Jack,

I don't know the software version of my BS9000 but it is around 4-5 years old. It's a MKIII model.

I just tested setting a timer and it worked. The TV was on (only because I was watching it) and the BS9000 was in standby. I pressed TIMER on the BS9000 and it took me straight into the programming menu and I was able to program it as normal. When I pressed the ON/OFF button the BS9000 displayed TV OPERATED. That is the only thing I need to do via the TV.

It might pay to contact the service dept where you had the CD mech serviced and ask them about it and see if they have any thoughts. I'm taking my BV10 in a for visit to service soon so I'll ask them if they know anything.

Thanks Peter, but in its current configuration, the BS9000 does not appear to allow me to override the message 'TV OPERATED' and proceed to set any timer events? I had the BS9000 serviced back in August last year (new CD mech of course) but also had the s/w updated to 3.4 That may mean I can't get out of this problem now. Only other thing might be to disconnect the BV10 from the ML circuit and then see if the BS9000 can proceed to be programmed believing there is no other master in operation?

I use my old Ouverture to set the program/timer funktion, and even when my BV 10 is "master" it´s still a slave regarding the timer funktion.

But it works fine with the Ouverture controling the"timer"

So my Bedroom TV (BV8-40) turns on at 6.30 in the morning, and shortly after (6.45) the BV10-40 turns on with radio, in the living room. and allso my beolab2000 in the kitchen turns on radio.

All programmed from the Ouverture, and on/off set local at the BV8, BV10, BL2000

But i heard from a dealer, that you should could set the timer funktion from the TV, but i havent solved this either.

I have the same dilemma. Bv-10 + BS7000. But I´m looking for s/w 1.3 for Beomaster. 1.3 should make it possible to program Bm even in option 0 (hopefully)

Hi,

I have a BV 10 & BS 9000 in our lounge with various link rooms all connected via Masterlink.

Even though the BS9000 says 'TV operated' it still controls all the timer functions. I have programmed the timer settings on the BS9000 and then simply use the TV for the Timer on/off function to control the lounge speakers. To me the BS 9000 is still the master that I use to set the timer times. All the BV10 does is control the turning on & off of the lounge speakers.

Everything works fine and the timer comes on when I want. The only thing different before I had the TV (and it was only the BS 9000 as the master) is that there is a slight delay before the lounge speakers come on. All the link speakers have activated before the lounge speakers reach their full volume. This isn't a complaint - just an observation.

I used the BC2 but on swapping to the BV5, I have gone back to the TV again!

Hi,

that´s why I use my BV 10 only as slave in my bedroom. In my livingroom I still use my (lovely) Avant which has an active timer. So I can be waked up in my bedroom by programmed timer on my avant and set play timer on the BV 10 to ON.

I also believe that B&O wants to sell the Beotime. Poor decision in my opinion.

Here’s one for you...

The BV10 has a sleep timer and a play timer. The sleep timer is pretty common in a lot of TVs, is useless and seldom used. Anyone with an AVANT or BV3 will know that they have Play Timers. Depending on what V.OPT you set them to i.e as a Video Master or Slave, you get a different set of timer features. E.G Master (OPT 1 or 2) then the old TVs gave you a range of Video and Audio sources to activate at specific times (even set it to Stand by if you like). Alternatively, when for example the BV3 is set as a slave (OPT 6) then that timer feature is reduced to a simple ‘on or off’ basically sets the TV to respond (or not) to timer commands from the Video master. So in the past I’ve had my BV3 wake me up to Radio, CD or TV (BBC1) !

I see that the BV10 only has (and talks about in the manual) the play timer in terms of on or off and there doesn’t appear to be any wider feature than that. So if the BV10 is the video master, in my case, like many I assume, then where exactly is the BV10 suppose to receive its timer play command from? Another master??? Well, I immediately guessed that the Beosound 9000, which has a timer, would be the answer. However, with a Beosound 9000 in the same room and thus set to A.OPT 0 when you press the ‘timer’ button on the Beosound 9000 it just says ‘TV OPERATED’

Could this be the reason that B&O have invented ‘Beotime’ ? I also have a Beolab 3500 in a link room, which is still a current model. On in there is the option to set the timer on or off. May as well just leave it set to off now eh? I don’t know, one step forward, two steps back.

Anyone like to tell me what V.OPT and A.OPT to set my BV10 and BS9000 to in order to let the BS activate a timer prog to play an audio source in a link room (to wake me up). Right now my BS is saying the TV has control and the TV doesn't appear to have the balls???
