hi many thanks showing sw 1.7 nov 20th 2003, will update to 1.9. but found the fault, when i looked close the plug was not making connection had been knocked slightly by vaccum cleaner but not noticeble initially

9#9#9*list(the button above the R) then it will say "HS SW version" then press ok

Hi Malcolm,Before you buy a new battery you need to check the sofware in the phone.if you press 9#9#9*list, it will tell you the software version.It must be 1.7 or 1.9,One of the faults with the early software was it would disply "charge battery" when it didn't need replacing.

Hi Malcolm,

Well, the service manual's onsite and having looked it appears you use a special tool to unclip it. I should imagine you could use a small screwdriver or better still the corner of a credit card. Never had one apart myself though so don't blame me if my suggestion damages it

I would probably have a go if it were mine but I guess it depends on you and how far your dealer is away plus their fees.

Hi guys

my beocom 4 suddenly showed message charge battery, so suspect it needs new battery, can i do this myself and where in the handset is the battery located. or is it better to get the dealer to do it, as often find you need special tools to open

phone is about six years old
