The X series were terrible speakers, I've had several pairs of X35s, and they have all sounded way below par! Gave them all away to those who wanted them!

Other speakers which I haven't even seen mentioned on this forum so far would be the MCX35s, very good speakers considering how cheaply you can pick them up, and their fairly unassuming appearance. Great for running off the L2502's built in amp if you really want.

I would be intrigued as to what happens when you connect a BeoSystem 2000 or 2400 to a Datalink compatible TV though, if anybody does know...

Re: New vintage B & O addict; Beovision L2502 fell into my lap = I now need aux speaker advice to pair it with.

The love of L series Beovisions. I had the L2800 and it had great sound and picture. The typical age problems had been fixed so it was pure enjoyment.

The Beosystem 2000 is data link but I never got around to put the two of them together all though the system sounded good on its own. If you chose the system don't use X35 or other X series speakers. They sound horrible. Mine were near mint but to midrangey or something. Its a low power system but a great one.

The manual did come with sugestions on the 5000-5500-6500 and 7000 type of system to conect via the aux socket on the Beovision.

Re: New vintage B & O addict; Beovision L2502 fell into my lap = I now need aux speaker advice to pair it with.

Considering the L2502 only has 15 watts to play with on the speaker outputs, I would look for small easy-to-power speakers. BeoVox S25s would be ideal, as they do not suffer from foam rot (something which plagues older B&O speakers) while sounding relatively good for casual listening. They're also very sensitive which makes them suitable to be driven by the L2502's amp.

RL35s are also an option, although I think the S25s fall into design with the L2502 better.

Other than those, I'm not sure I'd want to power anything else with the L2502's internal amp, even CX40s, 50s or 100s. You wouldn't get any sound out of Pentas at all, or at least a very minimal amount of sound before experiencing some pretty serious distortion. Larger S and M/MS speakers would also run into issues pretty quickly.

In terms of external systems, the BeoSystem 5500, 6500 and 7000 are all fantastic systems, although if you would like the capability of later adding a pair of active speakers (all new B&O speakers from 1991 onwards), then I would recommend either a 6500 or 7000. There's very little difference between the two systems, other than age and some capabilities which the 6500s were capable of later on in their life-time. While it could be considered 'the best of the lot', the BeoSystem 5000 would not integrate as smoothly with your L2502 as the 5500 and later, as it has no 'datalink' (a way for the TV and sound system to talk to each other and integrate).

Another system worth considering would be the BeoSystem 2000, which I believe will integrate fine with your L2502 as it also has datalink (although I stand corrected if somebody feels differently).

Re: New vintage B & O addict; Beovision L2502 fell into my lap = I now need aux speaker advice to pair it with.

Didn't know that the LX series has become vintage... (Surely don't se my LX6k as vintage, but never mind! )

Redlines will connect to your L2502 without problems. Also consider S45-80 spearker series or even Pentas. Pentas are the top, but somewhat expensive compared to Redlines and S80.

For a music system I would recomend the BeoSystem 5500-6500-7000. These are superb, and can be liked easely to your L2502.

Welcome to BeoWorld!!

Re: New vintage B & O addict; Beovision L2502 fell into my lap = I now need aux speaker advice to pair it with.

First, welcome to Beoworld. So the Beovirus as we like to call it has infected you. You should be able connect a pair of Redlines with no problems at all. There should be two speaker connections on the rear of the TV. These will be 2 pin DIN connections. Just connect to these and away you go.

Craig

New vintage B & O addict; Beovision L2502 fell into my lap = I now need aux speaker advice to pair it with.

Had a Beovision L2502 with machined steel Beolink 1000 remote drop into my lap; free of charge, perfect condition . Picture blows me away; sound is decent. Had a look inside the speakers – no dust.

Not a scratch nor scuff on the remote or unit, like I was in back in 1988 in front of a brand new set.

Bug definitely bit me but good, because I am in love with this baby. I’m looking to buy extras and create a vintage home system around the Beovision TV;

first and foremost, auxiliary speakers. Any body have any experience in matching speakers to this unit. Preferably same gen vintage components (I’m looking to keep this old school, within reason)

Really like the look of the Red Line passive speakers, but can they be connected up…?

Do help, as I’m lost in the woods at the moment…
