I'm having the same problem, but unfortunately I cannot update my iPhone to OS 4.2 because it's jail broken. I'll have to wait until the hack is available first.

BEOSOUND 8 and Iphone OS 4.1

Recently we purchased the Beosound 8. Must say that I'm delighted with it. It is worth however mentioning that with my iphone it was working wonderfully but with my wife's it sounded like an old record player with squeaks, distortions and dropouts every 10-15 seconds or so. The first reaction was that there was a problem with my wife's phone connector but further investigation revealed that she was using a more updated software than me, 4.1 as opposed to my 4.0. Her phone is now upgraded to 4.2 and everything now sounds as it should. It seems that had been a problem on some car audio systems and 4.2 fixed this bug. Hope this helps somebody out there.
