Sorry, my fault - have to edit my post a second time:

! CD Playback only - if an other speaker setting than Speaker 2 (Stereo) is selected manually or by setup
(e.g. Speaker 3 / 4 / 5 for CD )
the system will use the ML connection between Audio and TV (parallel to SPDIF directly to BLB5)
the sound will be processed by the DSS module of your TV and delivered by PL to the Center and Surround
speakers. This will cause a time delay between front BLb5s and the other speakers.

Works on a BV7-40.

The beovision 10 don't have datalink in the powerlink outputs, the beobab 5 needs datalink too work with the s/p-dif.

Odd 88 is right - if the BeoVision 10 does not transmit (display) data via PowerLink - the BeoLab 5 will never
receive the command "CD" and therefore never switch from PL to SPDIF.

PS: PL cable must be a fully mounted one - a PL Mk3 won't work.

So if the speakers are set to "2", the previous system I described:

BV10 -> BS9000 with ML

I am happy with the sound from the 9000 in my set-up, but the sound with s/p-dif is a bitt better, I will upgrade to a beovision 7 to get datalink, when I find a used sett for a good price that is.

Ok, do you guys think my setup will suffer poorer sound quality now? Is there anyway to get datalink or to trick the speakers into thinking datalink is there? Feel somewhat strange about feeding bl5 with ml...

Well now I have it all working, with a small run around, making me able to save the spdif to the speakers from my CD.

Connected the Mac Mini to DVD2 on the TV only by spdif. It works. The screen is lit, but black. Will muting the screen make it off? How to mute the screen with Beo5?

A/V setups - like the one you have - will:

- send sound to the Speakers (center / front / rear / sub) from all sources through analog PL-cables exept *)

- receive digital sound of sources connected either by HDMI or SPDIF (and, of course a video connection
via DVI / VGA / SCART / COMPONENT) as there are only digital INPUTS (but no OUTPUTS) available on the TV.

*) In your specific setup the digital input of the BLb5s can only be used for CD playback in stereo (speaker 2)

! If an other speaker setting is selected manually or by setup (e.g. Speaker 3 / 4 / 5 for audio sources)
the system will use the ML connection instead of SPDIF and the sound will be processed by the DSS
module and delivered by PL to the speakers - even if you select CD.

If you had everything connected as described, then you ought to be fine. When the BeoLab 5's 'see' an audio source 'displayed' on the PL cable, they automatically check the S/P-DIF input first, and if a signal is present, they lock onto it and stay. This is one major reason that you must use fully-mounted PL cables in these set-ups. The data signal must be present.

Since the mini is playing when it is connected to the 5's instead of the 9000, we can expect that the cables are OK. Try this...reconnect all of the B&O gear as it should be (listed in the OP) play the CD and try to adjust bass or treble...if there is an audible change, then you do have a problem of some sort. No change, no problem!

Russ, the spdif channel works just fine when I have tv in option1 and the bs9000 in option 1, with only ML running between BS9000 and BV10. Powerlinks connected to the BS9000.

But would a better option be to connect a "v.mem" thingy with only the spdif, and set it with an spdif entry, should this give sound to the Beolab 5's via powerlinks connected to TV?

Having the system set up in my original way:

BV10 -> BS9000 with ML

BV10 -> Beolab5 with Powerlink

BS9000 -> Beolab5 with digital coaxial

Did not make the Beolab 5's listen to the SPDIF even when I chose CD.

mac mini connected to TV :

AV input #?

I don't have the Mac Mini connected to the TV... Only connected to a separate Cinema Display in another room, only connection to the Speakers via spdif coaxial cable.

So you think connecting the Mac mini via SPDIF to the TV instead of the beolab 5's would make it work, by making the macmini ie V.mem?

OK, did what I said, and it works now....

So having the TV in option 2, and BS9000 in option 0 with powerlinks from TV to Beolab 5's seems to block the digital input...

So what do I do now......? Will the speakers work with surround sound left/right via ML to the BS9000? I suspect not...

Damit... Will my only option now, be A.aux and a good DA converter...?

Or is there a way to open the above described problem, making the Beolab 5's accept spdif even if connected to the BV10?

Did the power reset, nothing changed, also checked manually (with Beolink 7000) that BS9000 is set to 0 and Beovision 10 is set to 2...

Nothing changed...
