Thanks for your quick reply - following on from that, how much did you pay for the surround module, and how difficult a task was it to fit it into the BV3?

Thanks again,

I have had almost the same setup as you are suggesting and it worked very well.

I retrofitted the dolby board (obtained from Lifestyle AV) and had Pentas as the fronts and RL45s as rear speakers. Pentas connected directly to the BV3 and the Redlines connected via the ML/MCL converter.

I previously had it working without the Dolby board using a Sony AV amp, this worked but needed a degree of "messing around"

Beovision 3 & Passive Speakers

Hi everyone,

I've recently purchased a 32" Beovision 3 - now stupidly I didn't ask before buying whether it had the Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound Option, which of course, it didn't, and just has the ML socket on the rear. I did have before a MX7000 into a Kenwood 5.1 Amp, which sadly died shortly after I bought the Beo 3 - almost sod's law you would say.

I'm looking for a solution that would allow me to link the Beovision 3 to the passive speakers, without acquiring another variation on a 5.1 amp, as the 3 sits on the B&O Metal stand (unless it fits inside the stand!). I would settle for just 2.0 or 2.1, but would love to have the surround sound up and running again, with the TV as the centre speaker if possible.

I would like to use two Beovox Penta MkIII's as the front speakers, KEF C-Series as rears and an optional Sub when I really feel like it - what would be the most practical way of linking them all up with the 3? I have seen the ML/MCL converter Passive amp - would this work, or is this a non-starter? Should I just source another amp that fits in the stand? Or, is there a way of retrofitting the Dolby board into the Beovision 3?

All help or input greatly appreciated!

Mike
