with the DSS-module you can simply regulate the intensity of the BL2. In my living room 22 square meters it is operating approx. with less 50%.

However I personally even think the BL2 is better for music than for movies. I have heard the BL11 in combination with the BL8002. I have spoken to 4 different B&O experts. The BL11 would not make a huge sence in my case. The BL8002 would not benefit from the BL11.

I like a solid bass. So the BL2 was the best choise for me. And I`m sure, not all people praising the BL11 are honest to themself.

BL2 best choise for me, of cause with music.

Re: B&W PV1 subwoofer add to 5.1 module of BV8-40?

if you don't like music go for beolab 2

Re: B&W PV1 subwoofer add to 5.1 module of BV8-40?

DrDimitris,

I think, the BeoLab 2 filters of any deep deep bass from single it passes to the
BeoLabs. The PV1 has no line-level filter built in, and hence there is
no way of connecting it in such a way that the PV1 will reduce the bass
load on the BeoLabs. So it is only possible to use the PV1 or any other "non-subwoofer" with the DSS-module of the Beovision. If you would like to use a subwoofer with the dolby pro logic system or stereo system (meaning first you plug the subwoofer to the system and the subwoofer has to filter the lower frequencies and has to pass the higher frequencies to the connected Beolabs), it is the only way to use a original Beolab subwoofer.

Therefor I do not want to limit my options now and for the future.

Re: B&W PV1 subwoofer add to 5.1 module of BV8-40?

I said 3 (three) showrooms, Dave!!
so to install for e.g. the PV1 would be the following procedure???

Original Powerlink cable (one plug each side), one side into the 5.1-module subwoofer connection of the 8-40. Other side adapter (powerlink to chinch/RCA), chinch/RCA into the subwoofer.

Adjust subwoofer setup at telly and subwoofer itself.

Done and have fun??? That`s the way it goes???

It all depends on the sizes of your room Doc

If the room is not to big it's perfect, all other subs are overkill

But if you can't hear a difference..go for the Bl 2

That is correct. My living room is 39 x 13 feet (around 50 square meters) and l live in a condo, the BL 11 is perfect. I remember when I was still trying to figure out if I wanted the BL 11 or the BL 2, the dealer invited me for a demo in a new condo that they had installed B&O in the model unit. The living room size was even bigger, the set up was a beovision 4-50 with BL 3s as fronts, 7-4 as center, rears were in-ceiling and BL 2 as subwoofer. Obviously in a demo they try to impress you (higher than normal volume) but this time it works backwards because I was impressed but by how loud and terryfing the sub was, I had to request them to please lower the volume. It really sounded like unbalanced, like too much sub for the rest ot the setup. That kind of power will not make you any friends among your neighboors if you live in a condo.

Re: B&W PV1 subwoofer add to 5.1 module of BV8-40?

hotknife:

I`m using the 8-40 telly. If I`ll activate the subwoofer in the 5.1 setting of the Beovision, the 5.1 modul cuts all lower sound frequencies of my BL-8002 and the sound like cheap tin boxes.

That is correct. That is suppose how it works. When you connect your new subwoofer (whichever you finally select to go with) the sound will come out from it, somehow "liberating" your BL 8002 for midrange and tweeter performance. That is exactly what happened with my BL 3s and BL 11 set up.
