The BC6's AV3 is very similar to the BV7's AV4, then. The audio issue has already been solved.

What's still open is the question: Are there other BC6 users who have tried to use the component connections with a PS3?

Thanks!

Re: Connecting a BeoCenter 6-26 to PS3 via YPbPr

Hi, on a BV7 AV4 uses the 2 phono/rca inputs for audio, hence you can use component for AV4 (for both video and audio).

Not much use to you I know, but might give you an idea - there has to be a setting (PC?) on Source which allows you to use direct audio inputs.

many thanks, I got it working. DVI gets its sound from AV3, but you also need to use the AV3 slot in the connections menu for it. It doesn't matter which Beo4-key I assign it, to, though. It now works fine with the DVD-key on the remote.

It also doesn't matter what kind of audio cable I use. Both the PS3 composite cable and the PS3 component cable worked fine for the audio.

I would still prefer Y-Pb-Pr, though, because I could then have all connections inside the covered rear panel, making the back of the TV look much nicer. My BC stands in the middle of a room, so the back view is quite important to me. I saw how some store had the PS3-to-YPbPr connection working, and it looked indistinguishable from DVI to my eyes. If somebody got more hints here, I would very much appreciate it. Maybe there is some setting in the Service menu that needs to be set for component video to work or somesuch?

Thanks and Cheers!

Re: Connecting a BeoCenter 6-26 to PS3 via YPbPr

Standard DVI does not carry audio at all, so don't waste your time trying - it's not a limitation of the BC6, but the connection itself.

As I understand, the settings in the BC6 allow you to get video input from either the DVI or component (YPbPr) connector, but audio needs to come from somewhere else. This is where you need the AV sockets.

There is probably some logical explanation for the component input not working for you, but I suggest you leave that be, as the DVI connection will give you a better quality picture anyway. I suppose all you need now is to use your DVI cable, then connect the PS3 audio with RCA cables to the AV3 audio connectors and configure it correspondingly in the connections menu. Should be possible to use a digital audio connection as well, but it will again need to be in addition to the DVI cable.

EDIT: I consulted the BC6-26 setup manual, and I believe your best & simplest bet is to connect with DVI and analogue audio from PS3 to AV3 L+R; then assign AV3 as "PC" in the connections menu. Digital audio apparently requires that you have the surround sound option installed in the BC.

Connecting a BeoCenter 6-26 to PS3 via YPbPr

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to connect a Playstation 3 to a BeoCenter 6-26. First try was via a HDMI-to-DVI cable, which gave me a nice 720p picture, but no sound.

So I tried connecting via YPbPr, which this model has existing plugs. But no matter what I do, I only get a black picture with the correct audio.

Can somebody answer me these:

Any general help to get both video and audio?

In the connection options, I can connect a Beo4 button (DVD / V.MEM) to both an AV socket (AV1 / 2 / 3) *and at the same time* to either DVI or YPbPr. Does it even matter which AV socket I select?

Is it correct that the BC6 is unable to play any audio received through the DVI input?

Is there an option the BC6 to have the picture from the DVI input but the audio from some other input?

Are there differing versions of the BC6, some with working YPbPr, some without? Where can I find more info about them?

Many thanks!
