I just did it and you are correct. Sound was far away from what I had in mind.
Bottom line is that I keep everything as is and will place a center speaker as well.

Re: Difference between Center and L/R front for Beolab 4000

I don't quite understand what you want to do.

L/R Front carries a specific signal which contains sound effects and some voices. But the voice-information in multichannel is carried by the center-channel. If you cable to the center-signal, you will hear voices, but very little (if any - depending upon the mix of the particular movie) of the front sound effects.

This is exactly how they are positioned at the moment. However, this is what I ask. Assuming I change nothing on their position, however, I cable them to center, what would be the difference?

But in any case, I have I will try to find a single BL6000 to make it as a center.

This is exactly the moment that I regret selling my BL7-1 I used to have.

Re: Difference between Center and L/R front for Beolab 4000

Of course moving the speakers would change the sound. For good stereo imaging, you ideally want to be placed at an equal distance from the speakers, with the distance between the two speakers being the same as the distance from you to one of the speakers (an equilateral triangle).

Placing the two speakers right next to each other would just completely defeat the point of stereo.

Re: Difference between Center and L/R front for Beolab 4000

Hello Phil,
This is indeed what I have in mind but my main puzzle is whether there would be any issues on the setup in combination with the bl11!
From my point of view most probably nothing would change but, it's better to ask!!!

Re: Difference between Center and L/R front for Beolab 4000

The Powerlink cable carries both the left and right channel...

I'd like some opinions.

I have on my Beosystem 2 (with the 4-42) a pair of Beolab 4000 on the left and right (front) along with my newly purchased Beolab 11.

Do you think that placing the Beolab 4000 (both as a center speaker) would change the sound? Mind that I do not have rear speakers connected because I prefer Stereo and don't so much like the 5.1

Any ideas and thoughts are highly appreciated.
