and found out that 3 don't turn on or stay on (despite new battery) and when they are on they have trouble staying charged.

Have you entered the code when you fitted the new batteries?

9 # 9 # 9 * 6 5 5 ok

That should reset the software in the handset to recognise that a new battery has been fitted.

They also might have a bad contact because dust can gather in there. If it is a charger with indication (green or red LED), you can check if the LED turns green when the BeoCom 6000 is placed on the charger! If there is no LED, switch the BeoCom 6000 OFF and check if it switches on when you place it on the charger. If not, clean the contacts!

Re: beocom 6000 woes

Sounds like you need some new batteries. I would check the contacts on the phone for corrosion first if they have not been used for a while. Otherwise, just replace the batteries. They seem not to tricky to find - I did a quick search and immediately found this.

beocom 6000 woes

so I have 5 beocom 6000's and since we moved to our new house, I have only been using one plus a beoline and beocom 2. Recently, I tried setting up the other 4 beocom 6000's at my parent's house (as a present to them) and found out that 3 don't turn on or stay on (despite new battery) and when they are on they have trouble staying charged.

my question is, how hard are these phones to work on? there are a number of good electricians (people that touch high end stereos, etc.) in my area but the B&O Korea service center refuses to touch them since they weren't purchased here. and yes, I did call Denmark before when I had to get my beosound 1 and 9000 serviced and they were nice enough to get the B&O service center to work on them for me, but it took 2 months and was a reall big pain.

so, do you think this is something worth dropping off at the stereo shops and asking them to work on them, or is it something that needs a diagnostic tool, etc. that only B&O can do?

Thanks so much for your advice.
