However, sure the OLED technology will do wonders for TV' but think about that iPad, that you can roll up or fold into your pocket!

Childrens books with video images instead of pictures, sure this isn't exactly around the corner yet, but surely will be.

OLED is some amazing stuff. How cool wouldn't it be putting an oled screen on your wall like a wallpaper?

Re: A short OLED LG review(flatpanelshd)

10 years ago we all marveled at 32 inch 100hz CRT tvs like the Avant, and now 40 inch 100 hz LED LCD tvs can be bought for £500. Who would want to spend £2000 on a non HD tv especially considering how good the cheap stuff is becoming. This isnt B&O fault or anything but considering how good OLED could be very shortly, a Beovision 7-55 could be blown away image wise for nuts money. Like i said in a previous thread, if B&O could keep updating the panel as a trade in, but leave the rest it would make buying one of their tv's more palatable. ie make them future proof albeit with the outlay of the updated panel.

Re: A short OLED LG review(flatpanelshd)

Kokomo:

When manufacturers such as LG & Samsung bring out larger OLED screens with picture quality far superior to that possible via LCD or Plasma, then companies such as B&O who will inevitably be slower in adopting the new technology will have a problem I think.

They do need to speed up and realise that it's important to adapt to change.

Re: A short OLED LG review(flatpanelshd)

Thanks for that Chris - very interesting.
In the 'conclusions' I thought the following statement could (will?) have serious implications for the 'quality' manufacturers:-

"It not only raises that upper bar but also the lower bar, enabling even cheap manufacturers to create great picture quality because of the stunning OLED picture characteristics."
