Well, that's a question many have been asking.

The problem as I see it is that when B&O sets its priorities its thinking number of sales, but whilst B&O UK will be pushing hard I am sure to make it available here, the management in Denmark may not see the priority at a similar level.

One thing I think you can be certain about and that it will not be released before 2011

I understand the following issues have been resolved:-

Low picture/menu quality on DVB-HD
A loud ticking noise is heard when stepping up/down on Humax 5050/5000 set-top box
The previous factory Build 126 had issues resolved by this update
After a period of time there is no set-top box IR-control
Incorrect translation from DVB-HD

Stephen,

You are correct, your DVB-HD module will not work in the UK and never will.

You will need to get it replaced with a DVB-HD T2 when available.

The background to this situation you find yourself in is:-

The most used standard for DVB (Digital Terrestrial Television) in Europe, including the UK, is DVB-T and some countries have decided to introduce High Definition signals using the same system.

However, the UK government decided sometime ago to approve a new system to broadcast High Definition signals called DVB-T2. This system uses less bandwidth and significantly higher error correction methods rather than reduce the number of TV channels available

The UK is/was the first country to use DVB-T2.

Whilst this UK decision has been known for at least 2 years, perhaps longer, B&O were slow to understand the potential issues for their customers like you and continued to sell DVB-HD modules factory fitted to the Beovision.

A slightly different question, but perhaps you can help.

I live in the UK and installed a BeoVision 7-40 with a DVB-HD module last June, before the high definition broadcasts started. Once they did start I find that the DVB-HD module in my television cannot pick up high definition broadcasts. I am told the format changed and as a consequence I need a new module. This module was supposed to be available earlier this year. I have now been told it may be next year.

I assume that the DVB-HD module you reference above can pick up UK high definition broadcasts - otherwise I can't image anyone buying it. Is this a different module to the one I would require for my BeoVision 7-40?

The most recent update was made available by B&O earlier this month which they have called "Build 153"

This manufacturing build 153 for the Beovision 10-40 contains:-

PW version 4.05b
FEP version 4.03f
System Module version 20.06f
DVB-HD T/C version 0.1.4.7.0
DVB-HD T/C/S2 version 0.1.4.5.0
DSM-FEP version 5.18a
DSM-DSP version 5.15a

NOTES on above items

PW means PW 328 Application Processor Software
FEP means Front End Processor
System Module contains Masterlink etc..
DSM-FEP means Digital Surround Sound Modules Front-End Processor
DSM-DSP means Digital Surround Sound Modules Digital Sound Processor
