The M70 is almost a monitor class S60 - similar layout but better drive units and a lot bigger. The M75 was almost the same size though a little less deep but resembled the M100 with all the drive units arranged above each other. The M70 also has the stunning trumpet stands. It is interesting to see that the M70 is considerably heavier than the M75 and indeed is slightly heavier than the M100. Suggests that the bass unit has a very large magnet (good!) I have not listened to these two models side by side - could be interesting!

All of those I can see on "Ebay", "Leboncoin.fr", "Dba.dk" ... were always with rubber surrounds.
I use them with a 150 W RMS Beomaster 8000 sometimes at 5.4 (the limits of "clipping") and they have never suffered from any problems!
Their sound is very well tempered and their frequency response very linear, far better in my taste than the S45-2 that tend to be a bit "surgical" as we say in France, ie a bit aggressive for the ears.

I believe the surround of the woofer was subject to rot so may well need repairing. It is far better to have this repaired if possible than simply replacing the driver with a different type. That way you will keep the correct frequency response. Martin (Dillen on site) can give you far more information than I can.

Re: M70 or S45-2

Can anyone confirm if the M70 had rubber surround rings

Re: M70 or S45-2

I want to agree - personally I have not yet heard a S45-2, but read a lot about them

Re: M70 or S45-2

I love my S45-2s. The M series speakers are always the top of the range and will have the flattest frequency response and the best finish. The M70 is actually a generation before the S45-2 but is worth looking out for. The S45-2 is superb for its size and is very accurate but is bass light.

Re: M70 or S45-2

The trumpet stand is more or less the only difference between the 2 types tecnically nearly no difference, check the product pages. the trumpet stand will look good in the basement

M70 or S45-2

Plan to connect to a beomaster 4500 or 5500.
