Your 32 Avant DVD should have an inbuilt PUC/ STB controller. If not, following the advice above re HDR1/2 is a good way to go. The chances are, if you have the PUC, that you will be able to use Sky or get Freeview using an older Panasonic (TU 20 or 30???) Freeview box. You will need an IR blaster connection to transmit the remote signal to the STB (or a splitter and two leads if you want both Sky and Freeview.) The use of HDR1 will give you another way of tackling the problem, particulary if you cannot find the Panasonic Freeview box in the original menu (which will apply to all pre-Freeview televisions, i.e. pre circa 2003/4): it is definitely in the PUC in the HDR1.

If you are happy to use your STB's own remote and/or you don't have the PUC/chip, then your TV should auto-detect the STB signal once you have made the scart connection.

My configuration was:

Sky coax into Sky Box

Scart from Sky box to HDR1/2, TV Ariel coax into HDR1/2

Coax from Sky out to HDR1/2 in

Scart from HRD1/2 out to Scart on Avant.

STB lead from HDR1/2 to IR sensor on the front of the Sky box.

This configuration allowed me to record regular TV signals or Sky.

You will need to turn everything on and set up the system. I think the sequence was as follows.

Press menu on the Beo4.

Select Connections.

Select AV(x) whichever Scart connection you used.

Select the appropriate Digital box. Mine was the Sky one. It should then work

HDR1 would allow you to control the Sky box via a PUC connection.

Would this be just the same using a HDR2?

The HDR1 would allow you to control the Sky box via a PUC connection.

You can connect the Sky box to the Avant using a scart lead but as the Avant does not have a PUC, you would have to change channels on the Sky box using the Sky remote control.

I'm new to this forum and am online as my local B&O center has closed in Edinburgh.

I have a Avant 32" TV with DVD. It generates a great picture from analogue. However I want to get the TV set up to receive a digital signal.

Question One: what kit / digi-box would you recommend?

Question Two: How do you set it up via the scart? E.g. do you just plug it in or is there settings on the TV that need to change?

Question Three: Can you sync to control the digi-box with the Tv remote?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Ben
