One thing I would like to know is what the various tips should look like in top notch condition, and some way of grading the general appearance e.g. visiula difference between a CL and S type - has Beoworld ever tried to get members to take some snaps of needles of various conditions?

Peter has taken quite a few with his microscope over the years, but I don't think anyone's had a bash systematically at doing this.

I have an MMC2 I want him to look at, and then I'll be needing an SP for my Beogram 3000 Thorens, and I believe I'll do what Peter did, and have that retipped.

And I have an SP 8/9 which I'll mount on another tonearm ... that should be looked at.

The MMC5000 Peter mentions above is wonderful.
