Fortunately this turned out to be a non-event so far. I started by replugging the base and everything returned to normal.

No answer as to what caused it nor have I heard of it happening before!

Hope it may help someone that stumbles across it in the future -reboot!

Re: BeoCom 6000 Mk1 network down

burantek:

Hi all,

Apart from the occasional "OUT OF RANGE" handset threads we have here -last night I had a strange thing happen.

I have a BeoCom 6000 Mk.1 (DOT) network maxed out w/ (6) handsets.

Last night, all handsets started blinking RED and showing the "OUT OF RANGE" error.

Clearly an issue w/ the pyramidal base... but I found nothing here about the base besides hard resets. I would hate to do this and lose all of my contacts... but, I will do what I have to do! (Though as "COMMON" rather than "PERSONAL" -might they survive?)

Anyone have any thoughts before I try the reset?

Thx!

Hi Jeff,

This may not be of direct help but we had a similar issue with a 'Magic Box' phone system. We were told that the base would have to be sent back to a particular repair shop (after we had exhausted a number of checks/ reset procedures). By that time we had actually decided that the touch sensitive phones were not really very convenient (and we could have got a cheap replacement on eBay for less than the repair cost). We chose to ditch the system for a Seimens replacement (not something you will want to do with your BeoCom 6000's!)

As far as the personal vs common issue is concerned, when the base unit/ dock of my Serene failed I'm fairly certain that I lost all the common stored contacts when I connected to the replacement dock but kept the personal: I'd been quite careless over choosing common or personal so seemed to just lose a random proportion of my contacts.

Here's hoping a reset does the trick, notwithstanding the risk of losing contacts.
