Thanks fro the prompt reply. I did have a look and indeed it is not so easy to remove the side panels. Anyway I don't trust myself to do it so I'll leave at it is.

As far as I know are all the back covers the same.

If you unscrew both covers and set them side by side, you will see no difference.

About the side panels. They are part of the front frame. So changing them isn't an easy job.

Hello B&O friends,

Just joined this forum as a happy MX7000 owner since 1992 (type 3380). Picture and sound are unbelievable, even by today's standards.

So, I got myself a second one (type 7800) in 1996 and now a third one (type 8700), to replace the first one.

My question: can I change the back cover and matte side paneling from the old 3380 (better looking) to the newer 8700 (looks less good)? And how do I go about?

Who can advise? I am looking forward to a reaction.
