Forget all that audiophile bunkum about matching specs etc. Ben - Soundproof is right.

Make sure though that you get a protractor, sextant, and laser-level just so you get the right degree of toe-in on those 150s in your listening room, okay? Otherwise the whole system will be massively underperforming...

I remember I was told that my Dynaudio Focus 140 were "hungry speakers" that required a very powerful amplifier in order to get them to perform well. Several reviews and assessments say your amp should be able to deliver 200W to do them justice.

I have them connected to my Beolab 5000, and I have never had the volume above 6, it's simply too loud. The Beomaster 6500 will have no difficulty "driving" the 150s, unless you intend to install them in a discoteque to have 600 people dancing to them.

The ones I had were totally mint with the most gorgeous rosewood cabinets ala yours - I think the veneer was cut from the same tree!. I don't need David Bailey type photo's for the image of those speakers to firmly reaffix itself.

BTW Ben - thanks for the postage payment for the brochure.

haha....true I will have to John. Actually after all the recent talk of the 4400, I got my one out and I have to admit, the sound is rather impressive...I shan't say more than that!! lol!!

Here are some photo's just to give you an idea....haven't decided yet how I want to position them. Been listening all afternoon and have concluded they are spectacular. The speakers had been serviced by B&O and woofers fitted with new surrounds by a B&O technician. The seller was originally from Denmark, who oiled the veneer twice a year!

Well the infamous speakers arrived today...rushed home instead of going back to work lol and furiously unpacked them and set them up to the Beosystem 6500. Cd in and press play....hmm...at first I wasn't sure as the sound is different but after trying a cd or two I decided I absolutely love them. Fills the whole room with music!! They are absolutely mint as well, even came with B&O speaker cables. The loudest I went was up to 50 then it was too loud for me. So I think they match absolutely fine, they look great and sound great!!

Actually I rather like the 6000 quad which is one of the most stunning designs that B&O have come up with. I do have one still! I call it two puffed up 901s because, from a circuit design point of view, that is what it is. The design in this case is more impressive than the sound. It is however an ergonomic triumph in many ways - back buttons and power switch excepted - to even think about such a design is incredible given the year.

Would I buy one - well yes I did! Is it my favourite amplifier - no and I would always recommend a different one for sound quality and indeed ease of repair! But most collectors will regard it as one of the jewels in the crown. A bit like Beovox 2500s which really have very little point these days!
