&lt;p&gt;I have used the same setup, and it works well with just a line to 2xphono cable. No need for anything else than that. Most such cables allows you to separate the two channel in the cable by pulling them apart as if you unzip them. This way you can place to speakers with the desired distance between them. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Beolab 4000 has a line in so yes it&amp;#39;s possible and easy. There is a switch near the connection that you set to &amp;#39;Line&amp;#39;, and you&amp;#39;ll need to connect both speakers via a powerlink cable.
