It'd be a shame if they don't include two-way IR functionality - I'm dying to start using the timer in my Beosystem as my alarm clock, but don't want to spend several hundred pounds on a 20-year old (but very impressive) Beolink 7000.

Really though, including two-way IR would be a silly decision on B&O's behalf - think of how few people are out there to using two-way systems in comparison to the number of people with new systems, all these people would be spending money on technology they don't need...

The reason given for the old two way being dropped was the slow transmission speed. I cannot see that the Beo6 would use this system. It must be to allow the browsing of large music and video libraries and so will be unlikely to use IR transmission. My iPhone is already jolly good at this!

It is a twoway remote, giving you the option to browse say your albums on BS5 with albumcovers etc. Furthermore, the screen is rumored to be widescreen which may add the possibility of watching tv on it like the new samsung. But then again, it could also be that the bigger screen is just to ease the browsing.

Would be good if the Beo6 did work,with the older systems,then would be a winner for B&O.

I think the remote is for the Besound 5 but there again most new remotes will work with older kit up to a point!..Just have to see what it does but if the remote displayed album covers be great in link rooms!..Who knows............

Well, I'll be a bit more optimistic!

As the new-old (thinking like BS4500 and 7000, etc...) two-way were all driven from BL1000 coding -why wouldn't it work!?

I could finally retire a semi-functional BL7000 to display status! ...and B&o would sell one of their new-fangled products to this old curmudgeon!

Not that silly an idea actually - it could quite well receive and display the old style IR status messages if some piece of kit happened to be around transmitting them. But no, I don't believe a bit that it would actually do that - we'll just write it down on the endless list of esoteric unfulfilled wishes and reasons to call it an expensive piece of crap, whatever it finally will & won't do

It is rumoured to be a two-way remote.

So for your setup it might not be interesting, but for people that want to browse their Beosound 5 playlists, or who want to control their home automation system from their sofa, it may be interesting.

The specs are not released yet, it is difficult to judge from just the name!

On the Beo5, for example, you can have logos for channels, so you do not have to remember the channel number, you just click on the CNN logo for example.

i am not technical my system is bv10 plus sky hd beolab 8000 beolab 2 and beocentre 2 with dvd.

what advantages would the new remote have over my beo4. could anyone explain please.
