I forgot to mention that the top cover jogs (moves sightly and rapidly) every time I push play. The same sound and no movement.

I'll post how it goes...

...Update - I saw a posting on eBay for a CDX, which only spins the disk when you push on a certain place on the lid. So, I pressed play and pushed around on the lid (gently). Pushing on the area straight above the left hinge I felt a click and the disk began to play. I do not need to contnue to hold it down.

I don't mind doing that every time I load a disk, but if there is an easy fix I'll dive in (hoping it is not the broken hinge challenge that I have read so much about; but guessing not as the it looks in good shape).

Cheers!

Re: CDX not spinning CD

Sounds like a problem with the lid switches.
There are three switches in total. Look for a small shiny flat square
leaf spring, apprx 3x6mm, that should sit in one of the switches.
It's sometimes found lose inside.
In other words, if you take off the bottom plate and flip the
CD X over, keep something underneath to catch eventual
debris falling out.
Could also be the physical switch, I've seen them break for no apparent reason.

If the processor does not receive a "lid closed" confirmation from the switch(es),
it will not power on the laser or rotate the disc.

I have just got a CDX. The hinges are fine. I open the cover and place the CD. I push play and it closes with a motor sound. The motor (I think it sounds the same as the cover motor) continues, but the disk does not spin. The motor sound stops after a while.

I drove it 30 mins home from the guys house. I now notice the transport screws are onlyin the storage location, so the CDX was not locked down for transport. Could that have something to do with it?

The screen displays zeros, no question mark in sight.

Tryingto figure out if it is something easy, or if Iam taking it back.

Thank you!!
