Thanks for the pointer and from reading the thread and my own observations it appears that my 9300 which has the linear, ie straight track for the laser, does not have the capacitor C2103 on the board under the mechanism which is where I unsucessfully looked for it. Good to know I'm not going blind or stupid anyway. The last comment on that thread said that the later mechanism was no longer available either although I've been told that mine can be repaired (at a cost)!

Thanks for the feedback and it would explain why I couldn't see what I thought would be obvious, a blue philips capacitor! Maybe its a job for the professionals because other than giving the laser a very delicate clean which did nothing I'm pretty much out of ideas. The downside of course is the quote I received to have it professionally repaired, over twice what it cost me in the first place but on the positive side, it's a well cared for unblemished unit on which everything else functions perfectly.

My guess is that the fault is elsewhere. The 9300 CD unit is different than the other 9x00 units where you would find the CAP in question.

Hello from Oz to all fellow B&O enthusiasts around the world. Probably like many on the forum when i first discovered B&O it was a) still trimmed in wood veneer, b) analogue, and c) well outside of what I could afford at the time. Since then I have been trying to make up for lost time and have begun to collect almost anything and everything I could lay my hands on, working or otherwise, much to my loving wife's occasional amusement and sometime exasperation. What started with a Beocenter 7002 is now filling the house, my latest acquisition being a Beocenter 9300.

Predictably this leads to the question and even more predictably it involves the CD mechanism. Usual symptoms, door closes, nothing, door opens. Research suggests that capacitor C2103 is most likely the culprit but where is it to be found? I put the unit into the service position and had an all round look but couldn't see a cap with that number. I delved a bit deeper and looked at the board under the cd mechanism after removing it and nothing there either. I would dearly love to have a go at breathing new life into the system following which I will be chasing a good compatible deck for my vinyl.

Hope someone can help and while I'm here I would like to thank Martin for the cassette belts he has supplied me with on previous occasions, without which I couldn't have resurrected a couple of beocords and 'dogs fat' for the double sided tape which fixed the easy problem on the 9300, loose glass panels.
