(I'm not certain if you can connect both PL and Line-In connectors at the same time).

You
can in the sense that it doesn't break anything, but you'd need to go
and fiddle with the switches behind the speakers each time you want to
change the source... so not a solution really.

Re: B&O Speakers and non-B&O TV

You can also use the PC-input connection on a BL-Active, and a special cable (see this thread: http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/t/15997.aspx ). That is, you would connect the line-out from the TV to the BL-Active, then speaker to the Active. You control volume via BL-Active IR receiver. I bought a BL-Active from eBay for ~100.00 - just make sure it is not too old (the early BL-Active did not have a PC input connection). I did have some issues getting the correct cable... maybe Steve at Sounds Heavenly can wire one up for you.

The potential problems with using the line-in on the speakers is 1) the BL2 doesn't have a line-in, 2) your TV may not have variable line out (my TV only has a fixed line out so there was no volume control) and 3) you cannot listen to your BS3000 on the speakers because they are connected to the TV (I'm not certain if you can connect both PL and Line-In connectors at the same time).

1. Find a tv with volume adjusted line out, very rare and you lost surround

a surround receiver with separate volume adjusted line out for each channel not cheap

and you have to have add-on box tl bl2, change connectors on cables

So my suggestion is to go for a used BV4/BS3 or BV7MKIII or newer if you want

2-4Hdmi depend on build in DVB-HD and Blueray or not, or BV7MKI/MKII with 1 DVI

and buy HDMI extender if you use more then one HD source (check if MK1/MKII is uppdate with hd-ready kit) else cost about 600euro

I think you might loose some convenience and if you want to have 5.1 sound you would need an amplifier with supports the "chinch-solution"; at least your new TV should have audio-out via chinch - but this is mostly stereo only;

Don't forget what elephant wrote; the on-off-funktion of your BL will not work as sufficient as connected via PL

Greetings Elmar

Yes, it can be done - and there are actually lots of these kinds of discussions in the forums.

I know that I have interfaced my 6000s to line out signals.

A check of the 8000 manual should tell you if they only take powerlink or they, like the 6000, have the additional line out/in connection.

(I think there was a recent conversation in this area about the BeoLab 2)

The challenges will be:

-- if the audio signal goes quite the speakers will think the system has powered off and so they power off, and then power back on when the volume is resumed ... can lead to *pop* sounds and the loss of a note or three

-- volume control, this will depend on the TV or its amplifier

There will be others who can give you specific advice on cables, etc

B&O Speakers and non-B&O TV

I am new here... have searched and found related threads but not specifically addressing my issue.

In room 1 I have a BeoSound 3200 which is linked via Masterlink to these items in room 2:

- BeoVision 3 TV

- Two BeoLab 8000's

- Two BeoLab 6000's and

- One BeoLab 2

The speakers are all connected to the BeoVision 3 TV. The wires are all inside walls and the setup is wonderful.

The BeoVision 3 is still brilliant picture but I am looking to replace it with a larger HD TV. I can not afford to buy a B&O one. So I am looking for a way to buy a non-B&O TV and be able to use the new TV with my speakers.

I know a BeoSystem 3 (or 2) are options... but they are not cheap. Is there another (cheaper) way? If not, how can I find a used BeoSystem 3 (could not find out one on eBay). I live in the London area.

Any help or comments would be appreciated.
