AV 5 was a solitary machine in the B&O tv range, 63 cm screen. You could argue that it was later replaced by the Beocenter 1.

I could be wrong but I'm sure one of our members (possibly Nobby?) successfully transplanted a tube from a LX5500 into a AV5.

Early curved 28" Avant tubes are the ones that are popping for fun - I'd say around twice to thre times the rate of 32" versions. Again, only in my experience, but i do get through quite a few!

Buying a 4:3 screened TV is a bit of a pain though, unless you're happy with your 25" screen emulating an 18" screen when showing a widescreen movie..

When it is replaced, it will be replaced by a BeoVision 1 tube. But on the other hand, I have a 1998 AV5 myself with the original tube without any problems sofar. So there is no guarantee that the tube will fail. And if you can get hold of an AV5 for not too much money, take the chance, it is a great machine, very good picture and excellent sound!

Re: AV5... the tube... good or bad?

AV 5 was a solitary machine in the B&O tv range, 63 cm screen.

long time since I've been here.

I'm thinking of getting an AV5 for the bedroom. These can be had pretty cheap now, but what about the tube? Is it prone to fail? Is it an expensive one to replace?

Thanks

Andreas
