It does play, just about but one of the record channels is way out. There is also distortion. &lt;p&gt;For me it&amp;#39;s a mint Beocord 2200 (never actually used, not even dusty!) I bought &lt;i&gt;before &lt;/i&gt;Tim&amp;#39;s article in HFW mind you, and a little used (before me, that is!) Beocord 9000 which sounds formidable. I compare these to a Nakamichi CR-4 which is of course &lt;i&gt;no slouch&lt;/i&gt;!&lt;/p&gt;

I&amp;#39;ve seen new old stock Metal tapes go for a small fortune on Ebay. &lt;p&gt;Hehe, people think that I am crazy when I put a tape on the 5500, then they usually are surprised about the quality of my vinyl to cassette recordings!
