It's also new news, as B&O's official line earlier this year contradicted this, as did my experience. So, how does one establish what release of software is in one's base, and how does one get it upgraded if necessary?

Re: Beocom 5 and Beocom 6000 MK1 compatible at all?

Hi, Beocom 5 will work with any PSTN base, that includes Pyramid base. The software must be 2.5 in the base if its not, you will have problems,Just to let beoworld members know, you can put NEW PHONES on to and old base but YOU CAN'T put OLD PHONES on to a new base.

I have a couple of BC6000 MK1 and a BC2 connected to my old original pyramidbase MK1 (year98).

Yesterday I bought a BC5 and it connected perfectly to my old base.

The only thing, as Mike said, is that I cant see some red flashing light on the new BC5, but I can live with that:-)

The internal calls works great and the posts in the phonebook is much easier to edit or delete on the BC5.

When I was trying to mix BC5 with BC6000/1s, the BC5 would not talk to the original pyramid. When we tried a PSTN, the engineer couldn't get them both talking to that either. According to the official B&O compatibility table, PSTN is the only base which can be used with both BC5 and BS6000/Mk1. But I couldn't make it work.

Re: Beocom 5 and Beocom 6000 MK1 compatible at all?

Yes, BC5 connected to my old pstn, don't need the beoline 2.

Re: Beocom 5 and Beocom 6000 MK1 compatible at all?

Thanks tobeyone, but do I understand it correctly that you have your Beocom 5 connected to the base station (PSTN) of the BC600 Mk1 ?

Mine is definitely Mk1 but still works fine with my BC6000 Mk2. Suppose a SW update was flashed into the "Pyramid" of the BC6000 Mk1 back then.

Will the BC5 work without the Beoline 2 at all? You just add the handset to the "Pyramid" and that's it?

Sounds very good to me, only the dealer said that the combo of Beocom 6000 and 5 didn't work at all (maybe that's the Beoline 2 messing up) but again, I gather that the dealer had his commercial reasons for " dismissing" my old phones

Pleased to hear tobeyone

Re: Beocom 5 and Beocom 6000 MK1 compatible at all?

Well I have 3 Beocom 6000's (Mk 1) a Beocom 2 and a Beocom 5 all connected via my original PSTN box. I only use this through one telephone line and everything pretty much works ok. For me the only problem I have is that the BC5 doesn't tell me when I've missed a call but the BC6000's still have the flashy red light.

So, I'm happy with the way it works, address book all works on every phone, call log etc.

I sent the beoline 2 back.

Mike

Beocom 5 and Beocom 6000 MK1 compatible at all?

I'm looking at the "new" Beocom 5 but so far my dealer has been unable to confirm to be that my BC6000 MK1 is compatible with the BC5 (Beoline 2 actually). My situation is as follows:

Current phones:

3 x BC6000 MK1 (base with the pyramid, so no Beoline 1
1 x BC6000 MK2 (got it's own separate table charger)

On the B&O site it says that connecting a BC6000 MK1 to the BC5 setup (Beoline 2 I suppose) will lose some functionality, but does anyone know what it loses? Will I still be able to connect the MK1 to the new set? Some say yes, and others (another dealer) says " No, I'm sorry. You'll have to say goodbye to your BS6000 phones". The latter I cant totally believe, or is there a way to upgrade my MK1 phones to MK2 which apparently is compatible with the BC5 and the Beoline 2.

PS - I don't have a need for 2 phone lines

If anyone could help me or answer a few questions to the above, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks very much in advance, and thanks for at lest just reading this :)
