Horn speakers .. well, let's just say that I have yet to hear or see one that measures as good as mediocre normal passives. And passives doesn't even sound good. Active is where it has been happening for decades, and I can't for the life of me understand why the hifi industry at large are so backwards. Horn speakers and valve amps. Yes, it's a fun thing to play around with as a hobby, but they are extremely distorting. Couple it with a tape deck using old tapes and your favourite turntable playing well played (i.e. dynamics have been removed) albums with an old needle and you will have what many hifi geeks considers "nirvana". To me it seems they have given up on "High Fidelity" (i.e. being true to the source=as low distortion as possible" and have begun living in an imaginary world.

Seriously, £13000 for what is one (passive) driver, you will supply the amplifiers (if you only have a three watt amp, that's apparently enough, because the rest is mechanical amplification = extreme amounts of distortion). No, compared to that, even the BL3s are out of this world and a real bargain to boot.
