I've loosend the screws and it moves freely. The screws are not in a line with the underlying black trim (where you screw them on), they stick out (although they don't hit the platter). Is that normal?

I have to thank you guys for all your advice. The belt doesn't slip off anymore, so it was the tightening screws who were to blame.

If the suspension moves nice and freely, then the screws have not been tightend up. If it does not mave at all they have.

I don't know if they're tightend. Could those screws be of any influence to the belt tention?

I haven't been able to test that. When the platter is off it's just like the belt is somehow rolled up to one side, because it just rolls off when I turn the platter. When I don't turn it, it keeps on. It actually is quite tight (I think it can get tighter) around the platter.

I don't have that belt but is the belt also falling off when the platter is mounted ?

If I were you I'd try to do something about your lovely wife :). A BC3500 in the bedroom for instance is a nice extra on a late night ;). Or is your house stuffed allready with B&O?

Next time you marry, try and find a woman with the same interests as your own :).

Member Dillen (Martin) will probably be able to provide a new belt for you. You can contact him by browsing the forum (best place to find him is in the product related forums). Simply click on his user name & use the "start a conversation" function. His belts are guaranteed to be 100% as goood as the originals & in many cases better.

Beautiful machine the BC3500. I gave one away with some reconditioned Beovox S55's to a dear friend & he absolutely loves it. I would have loved to have kept it for myself but a combination of lack of space & an ever increasingly unhappy wife forced my hand really. I gave it away as it was an unexpected gift to myself from the Beoworld site owner Lee & to do anything else with it would have been just wrong.... The main thing is that it is used & appreciated on a daily basis & is in good hands.

Thank god I can say that the motor is fine. The only thing is that the small wheel, which turns the turntable via the belt, will only spin when i pull it towards me (so towards the front of the machine). It didn't work with the cable on at first, but eventually it did (although the freakin cable keeps falling off).

And Peter, I'll try you're short term fix. Does it really work to cut the belt, shorten it and glue it together (will it hold?).

Just need to find some cables to connect it to a pair of Beovox S60. You really can see that Bang and Olufsen products are build like a tank. After over 30 years it still works and looks marvelous! With a bit of a cleanup it looks like it got out of the shop yesterday.

What if I don't see the small wheel turn (the wheel around which the belt is span)? I'm screwed then ain't I?

If the belt is not on, it will not turn the auto mechanism - only the turntable motor will spin and this won't turn the platter as the belt is not there! Take the platter off and see what happens to the motor.

I'll check it again in a few days (the TT is not with me atm), but I recall the last time I pressed the lift button it didn't spin automatically (maybe I did a bunch of other things at the same time). When I pressed the button and spinned the table by hand, the arm swinged in and dropped and at the end it went to its original position. So i don't know what's going on. Is the motor busted? (i don't hope so, because I don't know what to do then).
