That's a valid point. I don't really have any first hand experience with programming either, but one problem with using a Beo4 (or earlier) for controlling 3rd party devices is that the button repertoire really isn't too convenient for that. It quickly gets really hard to find an unallocated, sensible button to operate a function of another device, and you need to resort to GO+something combinations like B&O's own PUC does. I don't find it too handy for stuff you need to do all the time, like RWD/FFD a hard disk recorder.

From what I've understood programming a Lintronic is easier though, and you don't need any under the counter software to do it by yourself. Too bad the latest model needs an external receiver to receive B&O commands in the first place, driving the price further up.

Gosh it's complex - I might have more luck getting a Lintronic to control my BM2400-2 by some fancy ultra-sonic interface!

Actually the volume kind of works - it just feels like there's a mile of rubber band in between and then it jumps in large increments. This is because the MCP refuses to send more commands until it has gotten a reply to the previous one, or timed out waiting which takes a couple of seconds.

I guess you could get past this faking "BM6500" replies to the MCP, but there's another problem. You can't have the MCP and the Beocenter seeing each other directly, as the BC will be sending at the same time

Thanks for the response Mika! I think that if and when I buy the Lintronic I'll stick to the basics, but maybe have a quick go of getting the MCP to work some simple one-way functions; of course it already does some but it would be nice to have the volume dial working, but perhaps this is only possible with two way?

Perhaps in principle, but it's quite a task without any documentation. I've tried to work out the 2-way traffic and decided the ROI is too small to spend weeks with it for a hobby project.

The return traffic (and the more complex commands from the 2-way remotes, like programming) can't really be called "codes" - it isn't simple 2 byte stuff like most of the Beolink 1000 compatible commands. They contain a lot of data, and in many cases the format isn't obvious at all. The job wouldn't be simple 1:1 interpretation from one code to another or even a macro or two, but a far more complex task.

I'm planning to do the same myself and mentioned it to Michael when I placed the order, and he didn't say anything - so I'm guessing it will work fine. I'm going to try it!

No i bought it direct from lintronic.dk and the process is quite easy and Michael is very helpful.

i will say one think what an excellent bit of kit.

since installed it has been working perfectly hidden in my install and makes everything work so well with everything else
