Interesting.

Whilst we are talking about this subject - would this one-way issue be the reason why i'm having trouble with Beolink 7000 'talking to' my Avant TV?

I can control the Avant using the Beolink7000 (switch it on/off etc.) - but when it comes to displaying status it doesnt seem to acknowledge the TV is on - it simply says 'Stand-by' when the TV is actually on...

Could this be because my Avant doesnt have the two-way communication? Or is it because I have not set-up the TV correctly on the set-up panel. I've been trying to 'register' the TV with the remote trying to follow the manual but to no avail.

When listening to audio sources the Beolink displays the source, track and volume correctly - when the Avant is on though it always says 'Stand-by' and ' - - '

Thanks for any help/guidance.

Bentleyman; you need to go to the panel setup and add the radio, cd, a-tape etc. sources again. When adding components the BL will send a signal to check if the equipment is 1/2-way capable.

Perhaps there were later software revisions of the BM5500 that allow the use of the BL7000. Interesting would be to know if there are other models like that, too!

I will ask for the type number of the BM5500 in question and post it here.

Main problem in using the BL7000 in one-way mode is that if you fe. start playing CD and let the BL shut down (after few moments of idleness) you have to wake it up and select SOURCE / CD again to access CD controls or adjust volume. In two-way system the BL checks from the main system what's going on when it's waken up and goes directly to the right mode.

Read the other thread. Once you configure your Beolink 7000 to control the 5500 in one-way mode, it will work as a silly, big Beolink 1000, and all the relevant functions will work.

The BM5500 Ville talks about must have a later software version than yours (or mine), possibly the last 5500's were "BL7000 ready".

Thats interesting - I too have a beolink 7000 type no.1541 with RDS written on the back.

I tried it with my BM5500 the other day & my Beolink 7000 doesnt seem to control the 5500 at all. It wouldnt even switch it on or off. I concluded that the beolink 7000 must have been only intended for the 6500/7000 system (which i've also got) - but your post has obviously put this theory in doubt.

It's only acedemic in my case anyway because I use the Beolink7000 (plus a beo4 and beolink5000) to control my system7000 & Avant and I have an MCP6500 and beolink 1000 controlling the Beosystem5500 as its in a different part of the house.

So, not only did i not get any two-way communication between beolink7000 and 5500, it wouldn't even switch it on or off at all ! So not sure what's going on there!.

I bought a Beolink 7000 recently, even that I don't have any two-way B&O, at least not yet!

Today I visited a relative of mine from whom I got my first experiences of B&O. I took the BL7000 with me to show it. At his livingroom there is a BM5500 which should work two-way only with a MCP5500, according to this and this (thread by rgs218 from whom I bought the BL). Still, the BL7000 did get two-way information from the BM5500. Time, date, volume settings, playing source. There was no CD-track indication as the BG CD3300 doesn't seem to support that.

I thought this shouldn't have worked? Or does it relate to the types of items, I didn't check the BM's type number, the BL7000 is 1541, and the handwriting on the label indicates it also has RDS. Could it be thus a later revision of software that does work with other products, too?
