My speakers were Ex Demo.

My issue was that i was feeling the speakers lacked everything when
in fact what i was actally hearing was so much in the high end.

The feeling i was getting was that i needed to turn the sound up to
compensate for the lack of everything but High Notes and Voice

I had look at the POTS on the back and can confirm that on the right
speaker the bass was infact on 0 and on the other speaker the treble was
in fact right up.

No wonder my ears were hating this noice and everything sounded to high.

well i dont know if i am aloud to touch the POTS so i have used an EQ to fix this problem :)

Now i have nice sounding speakers with plenty of Bass and Midrange and not just voice.

I have also disabled my Lab2 and im not missing it so far i will test with Film later.

Edit: Just watched Terminator two and pretty amazing even with the Lab 2 disabled., still had very good bass.

Happy Once Again

Re: Got me some Beolab 9's

Seanie_230:

My lab 8000's just worked perfectly even if the lab 2 did rumble a little but these speakers are missing someting it makes me feel like i need to turn them up all of the time.

bass is quiet on some songs and overpowering on others.

I am quite shocked as Dave is in his thread that not many people have noticed there is something missing

i think tonight its 8000's and lab 9 side by side

Re: Got me some Beolab 9's

I have not yet but what i think i will do is switch it off tonight and leave it a week or so and see how i get on.

yeah i just watched a film and i think i will be keeping the lab 2 it does add rumble that i will miss so much if i get rid.

i might change my mind in a few months.

im not sure but if you use ASt to set up area's etc i think you might be able to create one that can be used without the sub.

dave i did the headphone test and did not notice any difference.

i did however notice that the lab 2 still drones on a little when listening to music.

i did notice that in the film i just watched that the sound of guns felt a little quiet.

Re: Got me some Beolab 9's

I have the BL9 with BL7.2 as center and BL2 also attached to BV7. I love the BL2 when watching movies, my wife especially which is a critical measure for me. It gives the rumble in the room, you can really feel the bass.

I could have hoped that B&O would make you able to turn off the SUB in i.e. speaker mode 2, so when you listen to music you only hear the BL9. Some times the BL2 is too much for me when I hear music. My wife don't think so, though.

But my dealer says that the Speaker 1-5 setup can not be changed in any way.

Seanie_230:

i am getting quite used to the sound quick quickly after all of your help.

One thing i have noticed is that since i have moved the lab 8000's out of the way there is more sound coming from the center speaker and less from the front right and front left.

i have to be honest i think that i am going to really find it hard to part with the lab 8000's i might have to move them into my link room to be connected to my beocenter 9000.

So many speakers all over the place right now.

i did also think oh now i have my 7.1 setup lol

the acoustic lens has a super phantom image. for me it feels like I have sound in my tv even though I do not have it when I play music, feels like the singer is in my tv

Ok, yes Beolab 5 has that amazing character, but beolab 9 definitely doesn't. If people think that BL9 is a miniature BL5, they're going to be dissapointed. I am dissapointed everytime i take off my earphones and turn on the BL9's when i get home. BL9 has an unbalanced sound, the tone of this speakers is unnatural. Bl5 and 9 are chalk and cheese.

i dont notice any differance after a few days of playing them but my music taste is mainly full of dance and trance (sorry all) so the quick bass and high treble i would not notice.

I am even getting used to the tv sound now.

I think it was a big shock going from 8000's to 9's.

i will try the headphone test tonight just to see if i notice anything different.

I am still amazed though at my friends Beolab Pentas being fed with a Beomaster 5500 and iPod - sounds very full and punchy

Re: Got me some Beolab 9's

Seanie_230:

SPEAKER 2), but when video source is selected, sound only comes from the TV (ie. SPEAKER 1). Main reason is that the BL 9's are so clear and the soundstage so wide, it sounds very weird with them on during casual TV watching. Like I'm listening to an HD radio broadcast with video added-on! Only about 20% of the time do I switch it to SPEAKER 3, and that's usually for when watching movies or intense video gaming. Also, another reason is that in SPEAKER 1, when the stand is rotated the soundstage rotates with it, perfect for when I'm working at my desk in the corner of the room.
