As for replacing the speakers with something newer, I would say listen to the new speakers from B and O and see what you think. The current 8000s are very highly regarded. We have a pair of 6000s as well as Beolab 1s and Beolab 9s. The 9s are much better than the 6000s, but I still enjoy the 6000s very much.

what to do with my old B&O speakers

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum but I have owned a pair of beolab 8000's and a pair of beolab 6000's since 1996. They have given me sonic satisfaction for 14 years but recently the amp on one of my 8000's have failed and the sorrounds on the 6000's have cracked. After almost 15 years of great service I need to have them serviced.

I plan to ship them to Path Electronics in IL to be repaired.

The question I have is this: Should I sell them after they are repaired and buy a new system? Is there a system out there that will compete with the beauty and the sound of the beolabs? I know that technology has advanced significantly since 1996, but since I purchased what I believe was the "State of the Art", I have not kept up with the advances in speaker technology. I just came home from work and turned on the best music reproduction I have ever heard.

If anyone can give some advice, please do.

Thanks,

Leo
