ahhh i never thought of that i will change it back over then the player can decode the signal so all the bs3 has to do is pass the pcm to the bs3

Fairly sure that the BS3 doesn't support Dolby TrueHD, so by doing this you have stopped the player doing the decoding. There will be no HD audio from any bluray disk that has a TrueHD stream - it will just decode the encapsulated DD stream.

If I were you, I'd leave it as it was.

ok i am now at the disk menu, i have to press yellow 8 to get to the menu with no disk in the drive

if i select software update it says remove disk to update software. (no disk is in the drive)

i have also changed the audio to bitstream and now it shows the format of what is on rather than multi channel

i prefer this as i can quickly flick between the menu's

next job - check for updates

it says press green to check but then says remove disk be check for updates.

NB The panning that i used to hate on the MK3 seems to have gone but i will put the projector on a test when my other half gets back from rental shop.

Panning is vastly improved on the projector also.

i think if i sit here with menu after menu anymore tonight i might get a slap.

Where is this so called USB port for updates??

I dont think this TV has HD Freeview as i cannot seem to see usb port

oh right well that would explain why the output just shows as multi rather than the actual format

i cannot find any settings for bd player or how to access the bd player settings screen

does this drive support bluray live?

The internal player is probably decoding the sound & then sending it as PCM via the hdmi where as the Pana is sending the raw unencided sound & the BS3 is then decoding.

If you look at the specs of the internal player it can decoded quite a lot of HD sound formats & it will send these as PCM to the BS3 via HDMI to be preamped for the active speakers.

You will probably need to dleve into the service menu to find out the options for the player.

I will keep all of my MK4 questions here rather than starting many new threads.

Also how do you provoke the tv to do its update for the bluray via the web? Is this automatic or do you press something?

I find the panning i did not liek in MK3 has been eliminated so far.

I also find that the pic looks bitty / graney on the white area's

Hello All

I have my MK4 setup now

I have two bluray players connceted internal and external

when i put the same film on both players i notice differences

Both report a 60Hz input but as for sound

when the panasonic is connected it displays the input as dolby and output as 5.1 dolby digital

the internal player reports the sound as 5.1 multichannel is this ok?

am i still getting dolby and why does the internal not get seen as DD???

the film i have just put in shows DTS 5.1 when put in the panasonic and when put in the internal blu ray it shows as multichannel 5.1
