Not sure but I think they took a ML cable and put a RJ45 plug on it. then I put this cable into a wall socket and use CAT5 wires inside the walls to the next RJ45 socket.

Re: Cat5 & MasterLink

When you say that you are using Cat 5 are you just terminating it with a ML Junction Box and standard ML End?

Re: Cat5 & MasterLink

I use CAT5 and CAT5e wires in my setup. Works just fine as long as all 8 wires are terminated in your cables (CAT5 just uses 4 out of 8 wires).

Re: Cat5 & MasterLink

Almost 100% sure you can use Cat5. I have the lexcom home cables (they are shielded) and it works just fine. You can find some more info on the links below. As you can see there are 9 pins + ground used in a Masterlink cable. My findings are that pin no 3 and 12 on the masterlink are joined and connected to pin no 3 on the RJ45.

Is it possible to terminate it with a MasterLink end by using a Junction box or could one use the new BeoNet system?

I have also seen that LexCom do a B&O system which seems to be Cat5 based. Does anyone know how that works?

Thanks in advance for your help.
