Yeah of course i forgot about dealers.

I found that the pre owned companies offer you more money for your panel that the main dealers but that could be location dependant.

If they can resell your screen quickly then the might have you a good offer

And any B&O dealer. Look at a dealers pricing and the BV7-40 is listed as a screen. All the stands/speakers are priced separately. It's always been that way.

Remember when you get a panel from your dealer you always receive the latest panel - B&O are always updating the panels through the lifespan of the model. For example, there was a marked improvement between my first BV7-40 MKIV panel in May 2009 and my third (and current) panel from January 2010. Was brighter and much sharper.

Judging by the number of screen only BV7's available from Lee at Lifestyle, that's exactly what owners are doing.

all of these will sell just a screen and even maybe PX your current screen

I'm intrigued in this upgrading, how do get to find the screens only without shelling out for the stand & speaker. I'm also assuming you nanage to keep the beosystem 3 chassis?

Be careful though - I've had 3 x MKIV's so far and the first two (the early) editions alway crashed with a Sky HD box. This current one is from Jan 2010 and has been fine. This version has an updated panel, too, compared to the first MKIV.

That's exactly what we do! Why would you replace the stand with the same stand? :)

This is what i do each time i change my TV

I keep my stand and 7.4 and just change the panel each time.

Yeah the Beolab 9's would be lovely but i will need to do a home test first to see how i get on with the sound from them.
The TV upgrade is more of a swap with a pre owned company so its no where near £2000 and i dont mind upgrading every year or two as the way i look at it

if i get the mk4 this year then my tv is worth x pounds, next year it will be worth less so the difference will increase so this way it keeps the price gap closer

What new technology? There's almost nothing new in the MKIV apart from a 100Hz screen! Plus SD on the MKIV was worse than the MKIII - I deifinitely noticed a difference.

Even if the upgrade was £2000, that's still a far amount to pay each year for a relatively minor upgrade. It's the same TV ;) For example, what's significantly new in the MKV apart from a jump in panel Hz?

As much as I admire B & O it's not the technology that determines the purchase but their looks and how they will look in 5 years or more time.

Many of the B & O products are timeless with so many companies trying to emulate the style.

If you want technology, buy Sony or Samsung etc. You can replace them every year and still spend less than buying a Beovision 7 mkIV or mkV etc.

We all know B&O waits for technologies to be tried & tested. It will never be cutting edge technology but the designs they are installed will look gorgeous and remain so however dated the technology.

I can attest this with the humble Beovision3-32 on it's motorised stand. It suffers from panning, annoying but rare. The world cup was more than watchable on it.

Not that you need to from your list, but I would spend the money on Beolab 9s. They look great and will not date. Enjoy your purchase but remember it will never be cutting edge however its design will always be outstanding.

yeah i would love to wait for the MKVI but the jump from MK3 would be to expensive for me so i will jump from 3 to 4 then 4 to 5 then five to six and so on.

TV refresh rates are linked to the ac line frequency. IN CRT days they were 50Hz in Europe (PAL/SECAM) and 60Hz in the US (NTSC). Toward the end of CRT we saw 100Hz models to minimise flicker, where an "intermediate" frame was generated within the TV (the signal was still 50HZ refresh).

Model flat panels do much the same by generating more intermediate frames by DSP, to minimise motion blur, although the refresh rate is still a multiple on the line freqency. In Europe panels will refresh at 100Hz or 200Hz whereas in the US they same panel will refresh at 120Hz or 240Hz.
