I would personally use the guys over at King Street - they have an in-house guy who is superb, but also a couple of subs who cover the M62 /M6 corridor and are also highly regarded.

I know that they will also do cable/install only work if you already have your own stuff, or are using re-sellers - unlike some dealers who seem to clam up unless your also buying new kit.

And no - I dont work there ( anymore !! )

Thanks for the info guys. So, in summation and unless I'm mistaken, Beonet is nothing more than substitution from proprietary to open cable standards, with retro fit for existing proprietary connectors. I also don't need to run all my connections via a patch panel - this merely adds flexibility to the system (and I might as well whilst I have my walls opened up).

Anyone know of a good installer in my area? The dealer I had been using has been hopeless in arranging something for me.

The ML Gateway is, as it's name says, a gateway or an interface between the
"World of B&O" and the "World of Home Automatisation and Controlling" both
in your home and, if connected to the web, from outside.

The type of the cable used for the MasterLink network (ML or Cat7) is irrelevant
for the functions of the gateway.

But only a Cat7 installation has the resources needed in the digital future ...

Be careful what you wish for, you might get it....

If your are going to replace all ML and PL cables needed in a 7.2 Home Cinema
/Audio System /plus some spare cables for e.g. Internet/Videoserver/... and
want a fully centralised/structured layout you'll have to install 20 or even more
Cat7 cables from your living-room to the patchpanel in your tech-area ...

Dont get me wrong, I'm a fan of the new installation concept - but a lot of
sufficiently dimensioned cable conduits are required!

Hi,

I've recently purchased a few more pieces of B&O and I'm now looking to MasterLink my house - how far off is Beonet and how does this differ from the MasterLink Gateway, if at all? I'd really prefer the neatness of the new solution, from what I've managed to ascertain thus far, with ML and PL over the same physical presentation.
