You mentioned the DVI kit for the beosystem one, but what is the point if you can run a dvi to rgbhv cable to run an HD device? Will it improve picture in any way. Resolution max of 1080i? Interested bec I have a 2006 bv 4-50 mkiii and beosystem one. Im run the cable listed above to a bluray player.

If you assigned the DVI module to the Decoder input (eg PC/DVI or VAUX/DVI etc) then you have to attach the analog stereo leads to the (scart) decoderinput.

As far as I remember , the bs1 has 2 spdif inputs which goes along with both the VTAPE (nr 1) and AV (nr 2) scarts.

The decoder doesn't have a digital input. (this is a little different compared to an avant).

But the problem you have at the moment is that the soundmodule from the bs1 probably doesn't react to the digital PCM stereosignal.

The digital input will only respond to DolbyD or DTS. So you also have to attach an analog stereo lead to the correponding (scart)input.

So for stereo analog it need the analog lead to the scart and for DD or DTS you need the digital input.

The camera input has also its own digital input. If its not fitted then you have the make your own cable or order one at your dealer. P410 on the soundmodule goed with the camera input.

Now the system is hooked up (bv4-50 + bsystem1. I have assigned an apple tv box to the decoder input. There is no actual cable in any of the scart sockets. The video is going directly to the panel via dvi instead.

I see the picture but no sound. The sound is going from the apple-tv´s optical out, to a converter box that converts to coaxial cable that goes into spdif-2. Any clue what could be wrong? I have tried sending sound from apple tv to the camera L/R input on beosystem-1 and I can hear sound but thats only stereo so I would like to use the spdif digital input.

I checked my tv now, it has one slot with dvi and two slots that seems to look like vga, one saying pc-in

But several dealers have told me the beosystem 2 (the externl black box) also can have an extra dvi module inserted in the processor box. Maybe it is an unnecessary upgrade?

I plan to use mainly a hd-tv box for watching tv, and that signal might do best by going directly into the tv ( if the processor isnt doing some fancy enhancing of the image when the signal would go through the bs2 box).

Even if the bs2 box would have both dvi in and out I could not attach more than one hd-source I guess, or is component connections suitable for hd also? In that case I could use component for one source and hdmi-to-dvi converter for the other (like hdbox + bluerayplayer or dvd) ?

The HDMI-DVI lead runs directly from your HD source to the 4-50 panel.

Audio is handled via DECODER scart socket and SPDIF.

10 minute job to do the DVI socket, you can buy these reasonably cheaply elsewhere, but the Dealer or Installer must flash the panel software and there are some simple settings in the Service Menu to enable the DVI card depending on which socket you put it in.

Allthough, I quite dont understand where to connect the hd-tv box. For example I have looked at a Motorola VIP1910-9 which has hdmi outputs and SPDIF.

I will connect audio to the beosystem via SPDIF to bsystem2, but do I connect the hdmi-to-dvi into the screen itself or to the beosystem ?

If I connect the hd-box to the screen directly I will have to connect another videocable for lets say vcr, dvd-player, projector etc, and that has to be a vga cable then... right?

If you order the DVI kit, you'll get a DVI module which you have to install in the screen itself.

That will be a (HD) input.

You'll have to enter the service menu to change some settings. You have to tell the system in which slot the DVI module is placed. But as far as I know (i did order the module) the dealer normally has also to update the software of the panel itself. I don't know what it does, but with my it works without the update.

Along with the DVI module you'll have to assign a Scart/component or camcorderinput for the audio.

So, you'll get the possibility to name a scart (in US the componentinputs) as eg a DVD/DVI, or VAUX/DVI etc. Then the audio goes through the scart and the panel switches to the DVI input if you give the DVD/VAUX instruction.

But you only get just 1 DVI module, so just 1 extra videoinput. With a smal DVI-HDMI connector, you can use hdmi cables and switchboxes.

One thing is for sure, you'll get a razor sharp picture.

I have a bv-4 50" screen with serial nr 19478696n from 2004

The screen supports 1366 x 768 in resolution and that is hd ready

I havent checked but if it only has vga, I can install a dvi-kit

But how am I suppose to get this from any source via the beosystem 1 or 2?

There is no dvi, no hdmi on the bs2 and if I add a dvi kit they told me that I only get dvi out - to the screen....

Well... where does the IN come from ??

Sounds a little like buying a car that has got 400horsepower but no steering wheel..

anyone that has a clue?
