However I am starting to dislike it's centre speaker !

I'm curious why you say this? I'm in the very early stage of considering a BV-8 40 (just came to the States), and thought the center speaker was one of it's strengths?

Stan

I am not sure I can describe it, but with some music and shows the centre speaker on my BV8-32 sounds harsh? it is as if there is a roughness to the sound

I have Beolab 3s attached, and I now almost always run in speaker 2 mode

I am tempted to try Beolab 4s to see if the problem is psychological :)

In my opinion BV7 is best looking on floor stand, BV8 on a shelf or on the floor and BV10 on a wall.

I would go for the BV7, and do you know what? - I did, and I am very happy with my choice

However I am starting to dislike it's centre speaker !

I still think the cloth BV6s (although I do admire Judith's design in her pod where I stayed a year ago, she carefully chose a blue BV6 to match all the blue accents in the apartment) were a delightful and their speaker was I think better -- but they now look so small !

I would however buy more BV8s for link rooms (the plan used to be for distributed BV6s), but I do want a bigger central TV

I still want something like the BV7 with its beosystem 3 stengths, but I am no longer enamoured with its looks -- what was a balanced design in the smaller BV7s is now looking too big / clumsy / awkward

I do like the BV10s -- but after several visits the wall mounted approach is starting to seem limited, and so I would favour a floor standing BV10-46.

I am still not decided :) which probably is less helpful than some of the advice you have been getting from others

Re: Beovision 8, a used 7-40 or 10-40??

Chris go for a used 7-40 mk3 the 1080p screen with 4hdmi's be way betteer than the 8.

Re: Beovision 8, a used 7-40 or 10-40??

It rather depends on your taste. I think the 7-40 is the best set but would not have one because I don't like the design. The BV10 is the best looking, but the sound is not in the same league. The 8-40 is midway between them in sound but I don't like the shelf.

Re: Beovision 8, a used 7-40 or 10-40??

Personally, I would go for the 7-40 for the following reasons

1. Beovision 8, hasn't the sharpness of the beovison 7, accept the BV 8-40. But stil it doesn't reach the standard of the BV 7. When we bought our BV6, i had a choise between the BV8 or BV6. The dealer adviced me not to go for the BV8

2. BV 10, the design is in my opinion better, the BV 10- 46 is in my opinion the best option for design reasons.

3, If i compare our BV 7 with the BV 10 of my brother, the BV 10 doesn't has the sharpness and brightness

conclusion, i would go for the BV 7-40

Beovision 8, a used 7-40 or 10-40??

It's been a long time since we had a B&O television in the house, we used to lease one in Swindon which was great as it was serviced and replaced when a new one came out. As i don't know of anywhere which offers this i'm now looking to invest some money in a newer bigger television.

Having visited Newcastle's shop many times i always have a peak at the Beovision 8 as it is possibly the only product within my budget, but i always get sidetracked by the Beovision 7. It has a real sense of occasion and quality the 8 just doesn't. I would currently rather spend £2,000 on a top Sony etc than spend £4-5000 on an 8 that apart from it's sound doesn't really offer anything of exception. BUT i would spend 5-6000 on a used 7-40 with all it's cosmetic and screen appeal. To me as an amateur it is what a B&O television should be.

Would i feel hard done by when the mooted new LED backlit panels arrive, as i much prefer the clarity of the LED type screen and end up regretting it? I see a 10-40 used now for sale and although impressed by the 10 and i get the design etc, again i end up looking at the 7!!!! I suppose i am answering my own questions really but has anybody else been through this process recently and what's your opinion? Will the 8 get a new LED panel?

Any experiences or advice appreciated.
