@Keith: How do you set the new Beo4 to a reduced Ir-transmission? I can't find that in the menu. /Ola

The Beo4 Infrared transmitted power can be changed to one of seven (7) levels. Level 1 is the lowest IR power level and 7 is the highest.

To change the the infrared power level you must go into the Beo4's Service Menu by doing the following:-

Press STANDBY and LIST at the same time, then press MENU and GO button at the same time.

Press the LIST button several times until you see IRPWR : X is shown in the display where X will be 4 unless its been changed,

But with out the navi control of course..

I am verry happy with the new beo4, makes the use of my tv and viasat hd/panasonic bd much better

Is it possible to navigate with an "old" Beo4 when it is set to "navigation button" - especially from linkrooms?

I think thats because you have to update your puc/stb list...

Solvede the problem for me whith my Beovision 8 40´

You would hope that the PUCs will be updated to become Beo4 1710 friendly. Suppose we have to wait and see.

The Beo4 1710 is perhaps the most confusing B&O product I have every owned. The Beo5 takes some effort, but after living with the new Beo4 I have re-programmed my two Beo5´s. Why? It is easy to answer - let me start with the positive remarks: operating the built-in DVD player in the BV7 with the Beo4 1710 or the Beo5 is straight forward and logical, which is very good news - and I use the LIST button a lot, so moving it to a more thumb-friendly-location is also good news.

I can control the BV7s DVD player and the new DVB/S HD modul this way, but when I switch to my external stb or my BD player I have to use the PLAY buton instead of center button and up/down - L/R buttons instead of the stick....(?!) When I try to navigate in the DVB HD channel list in a BC6-26 linkroom using an "old" Beo4 it just doesn`t work. It refuses to scroll using the up/down buttons! I played around with the differnet modes - navigation/no navigation - and MODE 1 - 2 - 3 on the new Beo4, but no luck. Finally I disabled "navigation button" in the BV7 menu (I can now control the DVB HD modul and the DVD player from linkrooms with old Beo4s) and set Beo to MODE 1 (I can now use the navigation button in the main room for the DVB HD modul and the DVD player)

Also agree. Let me add you can scroll forward and backwards through the LIST with the navigation button which makes it more comfortable, especially if you have a lot of buttons in your list. Another improvement are the new LIGHT- and CONTROL functions like LIGHT MORNING; LIGHT TV VIEW, LIGHT SLEEP....I set some nice macros to my Lintronic box using these buttons.

Do you remember when the Beo5 was launched and a simpler remote was in the pipeline, and the Beo4 was set to die by the end of that year? Now they have launched a new version of the Beo4... The old BeoLink 5000 design must be good (not saying that the simpler remote was killed, it could surface within the next few months with the launch of new music system).

So what is the downside? Operating my STB is very frustrating. You still have to use the same "GO" + "#", but now the GO-button isn´t the center button - but the play button next to stby button. This is not a thumb-friendly-location, so to have the best of both worlds there is only one solution: Beo5.

It seems that I must change some hardware in my BV9:-/ You must have at least IOP 23.00, I have 22.00. And this is not a software issue... I am waiting for price info....sucks

Curious - the 7-55 is not on the list ...

My 7-55 has the "Beo4 option setting" in it's menue
and I operate it with my Beo4 1710
(set to Mode 1 = Navigation button enabled))

The 7-55 is compatible, the list is not complete...... My 7-55 was deliverd last week and it has the ability to chose the Beo 4 with or without navigation button. So I can confirm the compatibility.

By the way, the 7-55 is awesome, I really enjoy the Worldchampionship soccer, so much dept and a razorsharp image in HD! No motion blurr at the ball (at least I can't notice it!) Now let's hope "we" will defeat Brasil next Friday!!!!
