Well, then we are comparing apples and pears a bit.

The Mk IV has built in BlueRay and higher screen frequenzy.

So if you have the possibility to buy a Mk II or Mk IV for about the same money, go for the IV.

But avoid the Mk I and II, since they are "only" HD ready, 720 vs 1080 on the Mk III and IV.

As far as I can see from other older discussions it does not make a big difference if I choose a MK III or IV. Do you guys agree?

For me at least it asks for a pin code when starting any source.

My TV button actually opens the set-top box connected through HDMI, so no problem at all. Or, I start up with DVD, or VMEM after the 30 minute total poweroff.

I have had the total poweroff just a week and a half ago when I pulled the power when there was thunders storms. And at that stage I had turned off the TV tuner.

I think it's the best world, at least for me to use the BV7's internal DVD for standard DVD's, and the PS3 for BlueRays (and noice). Btw, going to move the PS3 away and buy a Monster Cable HDMI which is 4,8 meters. Then I cna get rid of more news.

Which approach will you go for?

My software level lets me disable the DVD and DTV modules but not TV.

The reason i never did it was because when you turn the power off for 30 mins you need to enter a PIN to get the tv back on.

I did notice that the only source that asked for a pin was TV.

when i used other sources the display came on but i coudl not operate anything until i went back to TV and entered the pin.

Has this been resolved as if the only source your asked for a pin on it tv and you disable it??

Please note not everybody has the latest system sw levels to be able to disable the TV/DVB-T tuner at will........

Hi!

I use the same setup as you are doing with the following approach.

TV Disabled the analogue tuner, and assigned the Set-Top Box to TV
DVD Keep on using the internal DVD in the BV7-40"
VMEM Connected to the PS3 slim, with games, internetnet access, BR player

Why this approach. Simply enough that the DVD player in the BV7 is more silent than the noisy PS3. Secondly, as to what you are writing. I do not have to use the list function, just simply press VMEM.

Don't even need to get into service menu to make this.

Works fine for me at least.

Gordon, do you know how to access the service menus? Other alternative is to get a MK3 without the internal DVD lol.

it is 100% possible i have done it with mine.

disable dvd in the menu's and switch the tv on and off, i made the mistake of not turning it on and off and it never worked.

i have also disabled the internal freeview module so i could assign Sky HD to DTV.

i believe on the newer software lever than what i have you can also disable tv and re-assign that, allthough the only problem that could cause is when you need to enter the pin number.

Considering to buy a 2nd hand 7-40 mkIII - and I would like to use a PS3 as DVD player and thus I would be very nice to disable the internal DVD-player and allocate the PS3 as DVD.. Why? Because I dont want to use list command on my BEO4 to get DVD2..

Is this possible?
