I had a discussion with a tech yesterday who told me that was normal,
due to the fact that the amps must have a linear high power to be
reactivated very quickly when you press sound again after pressing the
mute button.

I try to be the most clear here but it's difficult for a french guy.

When the sound is on "00" instead of "mute" the little "shhhhh" stops, so I believe the tech.

And as I said yesterday, 2 BV10 (out of two) in the shop did the same.

I watched "normally" Tv last night without looking for wrong picture or trying to hear a noise and, wow, what a TV the BV10 is.

I din't know the amps where ICE power, that's a good news, my first ICE power product after more than 15 years.

And BTW, I have three kids (11, 7 and 2) so I for sure know what noise in the house is !

Cheers,

BS2 did it (ipod is silet at all volumes) serenata is APPAULING at low volumes. Appauling.

But, if you just turn it up, you can live with it, use head phones at other times maybe? It's often great sound through the a8's i've found.

Re: To BV10 owners...

I hear exactly the same noise from my BC6-26 and I have hade a long discussion with the Swedish service manager at B&O Sweden Office. He said that this was within the "acceptable" level for noise. I just don't buy that. Our service guy has give it a try but couldn't solve this :-(
So now I have to put the volume at a level where I can't hear the noise anymore. Since I have the TV in our bedroom, rising the volume = shutting of the TV otherwise I waken my girlfriend...

Re: To BV10 owners...

The Plumber:

BeoGreg:

I noticed it last night when the house was very quiet.

You could try getting yourself 2 kids, perhaps a 5 year old and a 2 year old, and i can guarantee you wont have a very quiet house for many years.

One has that effect in our house.

All speakers make some noise when muted, even my BeoLab 3 when I'm close to the tweeter, simply because no one is supposed to listen to their speakers so close..if you heard the same noise at 3 m from the TV, then I'd be worried.

And remember that the "ICE amps" inside BeoVision 10 are rated at...5 watts, so don't expect BeoLab 5 performance!

Maybe it has something to do with your cable mess at the rear of your TV...

I thougt that too, but disconnected everything and it's still the same.

So I whent to my dealer and both BV10 did the same : if you put your ear very near the speakers with low sound, you hear a "shhhhhhh".

Strange.

I don't think that's "normal" and will try to investigate.

Cheers,

Am I the only one to ear a puff, blow noise from the speakers when sound is very low (on 1 or 2) or on mute ?

Maybe my translation is bad, the noise I hear is a low "shhhhhhhhh" that stops during a channel change and that I can hear on every source (TV, DTV, PS3).

I noticed it last night when the house was very quiet.

When the sound is higher at normal listening level the "shhhhhhh" is covered by the voices or music so you can't hear it anymore.

I also noticed a few times that pressing the mute button didn't mute totally the sound.
