I would not like to use a Gefen device. I think I can use Component connection as well. This would then be DTV on my Beo4.

Additionally I could try to connect Audio OUT of ATV to A.Aux of my BS3200.Or could I connect directly to BV8 as Audio device?

Do you think this could work?

As I learned now, the BEO4 can do everything the Apple Remote can do. The Beo5 can learn additional commands with ATV. Which would that be (please give me some examples.)

Do you have any experiences with ATVflash to increase AppleTV functionality??

Thanks a lot.

2 - the only "real" solution is using the Beo5 with separate macros for Audio and Video as mentioned by Razlaw - setting video speaker mode to "2" could be a workaround if TV is primarily used as display for selecting music files (and changing to speaker 3 at "real" video sources is less annoying)

3 - works perfectly, no overlay, just standard keys like << ; >> ; up ; down; ...

Re: Apple TV - general Connection and Speaker mode

I am unaware of anyway to have the speaker mode change automatically. I suppose one could program a Beo 5 with two controls, Apple TV Audio and Apple TV video with macros for each to set the speaker mode.

The Apple Remote PUC will work fine with the Apple TV. Alternatively another device can be set in the PUC and the Apple TV will "learn" those commands. I found that worked better for me. Also, if a Beo 5 is used, it can have many more Apple TV functions installed on it than the basic Apple Remote Functions.

I did some research on the forum but did not get the real answer to the following questions:

How to properly connect the Apple TV to my BV8-40. The BV has BR-Player and SAT receiver via HDMI. Right now additionally iPod Touch dock on Components (could be taken off). I have the following free: Scart AV1+2+4; S/PDIF 1+2; VGA;

I have SPEAKER 2 in Audio mode and Speaker 3 in Video mode. I want to use AppleTV for iTunes Music (instead of/additional to existing Beoport) in Speaker 2 mode. Further it should use with Speaker 3 for Video content. I know how to change Speaker mode on BEO4, but is there any automatic way (like Component for Video and SPDIF for Audio)??

Can the AppleTV be controlled with BEO4 with the PUC control I use for Apple REMOTE

Thanks a lot for valuable tips before buying the Apple TV.

Heribert
