As I have both BC2500&RDS and BL7000@3.1, I can confirm, that the RDS will not show up on the BL7000 display . As far as I know, the RDS function work only with the BS7000, and with nothing else .

But, IMHO, the RDS is a really useful thing on the BC2500, as this way You can see the station name on the BC2500 display (even only some characters, it's much easier to identify a station!), and even You can rename them on Your own. That's why I was purchased the RDS module later, and I think, it was a good idea.

I didn't know there were 20 stations to preset!! I really must get a decent external aerial.

My roof mounted TV aerial is over 2 metres long and the signal still needs a booster indoors!

Yeah, I remember the days when we had two national networks and that was it

The last time I counted, there were ~25 FM stations over here (not that I've stored all of them). I'm on cable, but they would be available off the air as well. If you include the weaker, further away transmitters of national channels that can be heard as well, looking for a certain programme is hard work without RDS if you don't know the frequency!

I agree with Peter. The 2500 RDS module (as the 2300 and MPAV9000) is meant to display RDS data on its own display.

If I remember correctly only the sw 3.x version got an RDS function - I have a 3.1 BL7000 with RDS and a 2.1 BL7000 without RDS.

The RDS only works with a BM 7000, no BM 6500, no BC 9500...

But as Graham said I see it more as a gimmick. RDS info is displayed in very small letters in the blue display, not in the big red dot matrix display...

hi mine says GB 1541 s,w 2.1 which i have looked on the site and seems to be a mk1 but on both the charger and handset they say RDS (although been wrote on in pen!) is there anyway of testing the 7000 to see what version it is?

I seem to remember that it doesn't work with the 2500 RDS module - in fact I may well be wrong, but I thought it might adversely affect the two way communication. I'll try to check this out!

Well, once you have 20+ radio station presets, it is quite useful to see the station name instead of trying to remember which preset is which. Not to mention while programming the presets in the first place. It isn't shown in a very prominent way on the BL7000, though.

"RDS", if it is there, is stated on the type label of the BL7000, which you can see in the bottom when the remote is tilted up. Type 1631, s/w version probably 3.1.

Wrong, I am afraid. All Beocenter 2500's are two way as are early 2300's. Whether it transmits the RDS info as part of the two way is another matter and I don't know.

As for RDS, I find it (the B&O implementation) very overrated and I do believe that you have wasted your 70 euros Mark!! It's just a gimmick.

The type number of the BL7000 will indicate if RDS enable s/w is fitted and I seem to remember a s/w issue label in the battery pack compartment??

Quick question, i have a beolink 7000 which i beleive has RDS (it is wrote on the unit and the charger in pen) but i dont know if it has or not so was wondering is there any way to check? i.e see what s/w version it is like on a beolink 5000 you can press menu and it tells you the version?

as i have just bought an RDS module for my beosystem 2500 (sholud be here next week) but what i would like to know is will it be the same using it with a BM7000 or have i just wasted 70euro's

as i have read that the BM7000 and the BL7000 are a perfect match when using the RDS
