I don't think it is worth it. You may decide to upgrade it much later in the future though, as there is likely to be a much bigger leap in performance. Liken it to upgrading your computer every time there is a slight increase, just not worth it.

As soundproof says, the money would be much better spent on improving other things. Maybe if you're interested, improving the acoustics of the room?

With the talk of release of BV7 in 1080p...how much would it cost to upgrade the panel of BV9 (non full HD) to that in full 1080p HD? And is it worth it?

I would spend the money on an excellent projector and screen - where one really needs Full HD. Having that on a 50" screen is of marginal benefit.

I have a BV5 and there is no way I will trade it for a BV9. I find the 5´s image still outstanding, great design...just lacks a few inches. I have looked at pioneer and even at FullHD I still like my BV5. If you ever owned a BV5 you will always go for the BV9 over the Pioneer, it just is another experience...

Sometimes, something is better then a BV5 or BV9 ? So what? The Panasonic panels are at this moment not that good as what the Pioneer panels are. Just a fact.

The class of it's own, is that "bad cabling" ?

By my opinion i haven't seen a flat screen thats over goes BV5 (when you watch it every day on normal analog, it gives you Chiles) , only BS3 is better...

I think so much is down to personal tastes that have developed after watching a certain kind of picture.

For example I woould never buy LCD to me the picture lacks depth, has motion issues and the colours are to vivid. In my opinion you cant compare plasma to LCD and yet on a recent television program the best LCDs were at one end of the room and the best plasmas at the other. 30 individuals were asked to stand by the product they liked the best and 80% went with LCD!!!!!

I was amazed! so I am no longer surprised with anything or individual opinions on products. Its very difficult to do a side by side test unless under proper conditions.

With all the respect. I have seen the Pioneer PDP-508XD and Beovision 9 in the same store together and the Beovision 9 not even comes close to the blacklevel of the Pioneer.
That is the plain truth, sorry I can't change that. Everybody who compares it will notice the difference at once!

Never done a side by side comparison, but I've seen all the hot-picks from other manufacturers, and none of them are a touch on the BeoVision 9 IMO...

Well, take a look for yourself at the new Pioneer and I wonder what you will say:-)

I saw this panel some time ago when it wasin its last stages of development and its avery impressive panel for a plasma. The balcks are very good as indeed are the blacks on the BV9 but there are many issues that make up a good picture its not all about CR and blacklevels.

As an overall package in my opinion the BV9 is streets ahead. One factor is to look at anormal terrestrial broadcast and see what the [panel makes of that. THEN compare the 2 images and you will see that the bv9 is in a class of its own!.

Well it depends upon the SOURCE as i said before. Indded if its your opinion that as a whole the pioneer beats it hands down well thats great!!

Ive only been in electronics and screen manufacturing for 10 years so I probably have much to learn. Overall the bv9 is as good as it gets.

Magazines are there to SELL the product! Whilst I dont wear rose tinted specs in relation to B&O equipment-- I dont know what source you were watching but the BV9 with integrated BS3 is as good as it gets. The new pioneer is praised for its black levels and BS3 of course helps in that direction which coupled with the BV4 produces a black which cant be blacker!!

Its all about the SOURCE to suggest the pioneer is in a class of its own might well be true in the sector it has to compete in

The picture of the Beovision 9 is nothing special in my opinion.

The Pioneer PDP-508XD is really another class of it's own, but I must admid, they use a brand new panel, and made by using that the greatest step forward since years.
