Yes - designed for use with Masterlink Gateway really. Should be out in the next few weeks from what I understand. In a fully integrated home automation system, it will allow you to open gates, turn on lights as well as controlling the B&O system on a basic level.

An App for iPhone/iTouch from B and O? Am I understanding correctly? First I have heard of that.

In principle I agree with Dave. In practice, no all dealers are as good as programming. Keith does also offer a service and this will be beyond that of almost all dealers.

However the Beo5 is an acquired taste. Mine has been a paperweight. It is no good for digital music, being only one way and too complex for normal TV use. The Beo4/Beolink 1000 is still my mainstay. And I use an iPhone for my digital music control. B&O are bringing out an app any time now but I believe they are hobbling it so that it does not replace the Beo5.

I work for B & O and do all the Beo 5 programming in my store. All the feedback i have had for the remotes i have programmed has been good. In my opinion the programming should be done by the dealer (and no we don't charge extra for it!). When i do the programming i work with the customer to customise it to there needs. This is how it was always meant to be done. If your local dealer doesn't do this for you then thats bad for him as programming is very easy to do with the new software and takes me around 30 mins to do depending on whether i have to create any new logo's or not. I programmed 2 yesterday and have 2 happy customers.

So after that waffle! you shouldn't expect any trouble with the Beo 5 if it is programmed correctly and later maintenance is a basic for any B & O dealer.

I think the Beo5 is a cool looking remote control. However, having read some of the postings on this website it seems that it might be a difficult product to programme and configure unless you are technically savvy (which I am not, just an ordinary 36 year old with basic IT skills). I didn't even understand much of the tech language in said postings and have absolutely no intention of educating myself in it either - as end user I would expect a B&O remote to be pretty much "plug and play", i.e. any programming/configuring to be done by the dealer with no "child deceases". So the bottom line is; Should I expect "trouble" in connection with the set-up or later maintenance?
