Agree with the post above from Chris - and I also used my 2200 with RL45s. I still have those, too, even though they now never get used. Just can't seem to let any B&O go! Crazy.

To be fair all the comments in support of the BC2200 are accurate but the bottom line is they aren't as well built as the 7*** series of beocenters which can be picked up for similar money.

As for speakers - X25's are pretty poor offerings when compared to other Beovox speakers. I owned a BC2200 for a short time & used RL45.2's which worked extremely well with it and really lifted the whole thing above mundane. The turntable section is easily the best part of these (based on the BG1800/2000/5000 series) but the amp section lets the whole thing down somewhat, when compared to the 7***'s.

Just one mans opionion of course and I agree they do look pretty good.

Thank you for your comment. I must now shame the devil twice! I not only own one... but I agree with your above statement. I have indeed defended them here in the past as well.

My first post to this thread was in consideration of someone probably entering the 80's BC market for the first time...

No, the BC2200 does not have the typical beo content, but the table is rather good. Yes, it is a bit plasticy, but I think it looks damn good for what it was... a true entry level system.

BTW... and to add further confusion... I thought the Japanese content was HITACHI...

The 2200 was part of a B&O strategy to reach a new (read that as lower budget) customer. And for me, at least, it worked as I had (and still have) one along with some newer and better equipment. They are not really representative of real B&O equipment BUT they do look very nice and you can buy one in pretty good condition for less than £50. You might decide that fits your needs - or you might not. Your decision but there's no remote and almost no connectivity options. In terms of quality, mine is 25 years old and still looks like new so I would suggest that the quality is a bit better than a Sony (in fact, I believe it was Panasonic internals).

The BC7700 was the best of the lot, but all are very well made & true B&O. The BC2200 was basically a reboxed Sony - cheaply reboxed in plastic

I had one and would have easily kept it if SWMBO hadn't put her foot down with a firm hand (I have too many B&O systems apparently). Excellent amplifier & turntable stage with plenty of inputs at the rear.

Incidentally, most people did skip the 2200 as the B&O content was in homeopathic territory :P

hi can any body tell me what cartridge and stylus are compatible with a beocentre 2200,iam thinking of buying a bang & olufsen music centre but iam not sure which one to go for they all have an appeal to them ,was looking for a record deck ,tape and radio all combined for bedroom can any body put me wide on what they think cheers
