Otherwise congratz to Peter! As long as they work they are really a great Beovision to have.

Picture tube allready changed? Well its going to last for a long while to come.

Mine was DOA and cheap. The powersupply is the most common fault.

Thanks for your help Friedmett!

I bought the used AV 9000 now ( payed 2000 DKK) and its in great condition, the TV is from 1996 and the tube was replace in 2004, so
I guess it was a good price. Beo4 included..

Impressive TV and great sound paired with my blue Beolab 3000s.... :-)

/Peter

Re: Beovision AV9000 <-> Beocenter compatibility

Yes that is correct.

The AV9000 was a complete system back in the '90s with full surround Beolabs 6000 and 8000, vhs and the MPAV9000 (Overture).

This restricts the MPAV9000 as it works best with Beovision AV9000 and slightly with the Avant. If you got 2 Master Beovisions you can't use the Beovision AV9000 as its only works as MASTER ML. If its the only Beovision then its fine too.

As for benefits you do get the VX7000 like vcr inbuilt and stand with Beovision AV9000.

Beolab 3000 connects to the front powerlink sockets and needs to be adjusted in the menu but it will work as stereo. You will then the option when selecting the other speaker options. Speaker 1 is the unchangeable default.

Also the dolby pro logic built in is the first type of its kind.

The early versions with software 1.0 uses the 2 way communication and Beolink 7000.

The later 3.0 like mine have the Beo4/Beolink 1000 so misses that option.

Re: Beovision AV9000 <-> Beocenter compatibility

Thanks again Friedmett!

Well, I understand then that I need external speakers to get stereo sound? ( I have a pair of Beolab 3000 i intend to use) And the centerspeaker produces a good sound but only in mono I understand..

I supopse and MX7000 or 8000 would be better value for money with better internal speakers for stand alone use and easier compatibility to othersystems via Masterlink.

No benefits but cool looks on a Beovision AV9000 then if compared with a MX 8000 with surround module I guess.....

Thanks for your help!

/Peter

Re: Beovision AV9000 <-> Beocenter compatibility

There is plenty of AV9000 around for sale.

It just takes 2 people and the willingness to actually go and pick it up besides paying the seller. They are heavy.

The centerspeaker is default and always the AV9000's first choice when ever its turned on.

Unless the thing you are watching are musically content like a concert dvd of your favorite artist the centerspeaker works quite well.

Stereo sound without Beolabs? Yes it can be done.

The way I would be doing it is to bring the Beosystem 6500 back in the living room and place the Beovox's on either side of the AV9000.

I would then be able to use AUX and get the sound in stereo that way. I'm still connecting the Beosystem 6500 via 1611 converter to AV9000.

The AV9000 is based on the MX6000 in the electronics but owerall you don't lose anything other than your favorite design really. If you do not plan to buy at least front speakers then a MX7000/8000 is the better buy. Also it might be better for linking.

I can only compare to my Beovision LX5500 but as it is the LX wins on the sound. Picture is a tie. The LX wins for most value for money and reliability.

Re: Beovision AV9000 <-> Beocenter compatibility

Another additional question...( I havent bought a Beovision AV9000 yet..i was too slow to get the cheap one I found, but I am sure there will be more offers..)..

If using it stand alone without external speakers or beocenters..is the built in speaker only mono to be used only as a centerspeaker?
Or, is it also possible to get stereosound from the TV when used as a stand alone?

If only mono, I guess a used MX 7000/8000 would be a better buy...right? I like the iconic design on the AV9000 though..and its kind of rare..but perhaps an MX would be a "better" TV..? picture wise and/or sound wise..

Whats your opinion on that?

/Peter

Re: Beovision AV9000 <-> Beocenter compatibility

Thanks Friedmett!

Ok, I will have to check what converter I need then! :-)

Havent bought the TV yet..but probably will..

Best regards,

It depends a bit on what year the AV9000 is.

This can be located by pulling of the cover to the center speaker. There is a label saying the year.

The later version like IT with Beo4 takes the 1611 converters and the early AV9000 takes the 1610 converter.

Once you know which converter its AV9000 to converter to Beosystem of choice.

As mentioned before I do AV9000 '98 to 1611 converter to Beosystem 6500 which is about 1991 I guess. It works like it should. All functions are there control wise so if you want AV9000 these days it can be done.

As for the MPAV9000. I am kind of avoiding it. If you decide to get rid of the AV9000 you got no use for it despite it might be working well. Its a AV9000 only product and that's its best use anyway. Ok it might work on Avant but not as well.

The AV9000 holds the least value in a AV9000 setup so it would be better to know that if it needs work (mine allready did) you can still use the Beosystem regardless if you drop it or not.

Beovision AV9000 <-> Beocenter compatibility

Hi All,

I have found a Beovision AV 9000 for sale in perfect condition and at a reasonable price to replace my LS5500 as a bedroom TV.

I understand from several posts that the linkage to other B&O products where a little different on this TV, am I right?

My idea is to connect the Beovision AV 9000 to my Beolab 3000 speakers which i suppose is very straight forward and it will also match colour wise with the blue frame and the blue details on the speakers..

But, what if I want to connect my Beocenter 2300 to this setup? or a Beocenter 9500? is that possible or do I need that special edition of the overture that was designed only for the AV 9000 setup?

I am curios to hear your advice on this matter..

/Peter
